All,

Just trying to get a hang of the game. Two quick questions :

1) When I get back to port, how do I dock and end my mission? I ended up crashing into the port trying to get into it and sank

2) When you use the notification book, how come there are only warships in there? I cannot find any merchant ships in there.

Thx

1) Plot your course as normal, but you need to zoom in to get a good close-up of your dock (it's the one with the name - Brest, Kiel, Lorient or whatever - closest to it).
The Time Compression should come down to a max of 2x or 4x when you're really close in, giving you time to get to a safe speed and then stop (or as close as you can). STOP ENGINES in good time, or even go astern (backwards) to slow your boat down. When you've had enough of the brass band, press Escape and select "End Patrol" (I think it is) and then "Dock at: wherever you are".

2) I think you mean Identification Book - select the sections by using the little up and down arrows in bottom right corner, the title on the book will change. There is a section each for each nation's warships and there is ONE section for merchant ships, called - if the text is in German - Handelschiffe (or similar).

1) I did make it back to my home port (Kiel) but when I zoomed in, I wasn't sure where to dock. Am I supposed to go exactly where the name is on the screen? Is that where the sub pen is? I assume I am looking for a sub pen, right?

2) Ahh, that was the problem. I was looking for cargo ships in the respective countries. I assume all the cargo ships are basically the same and have their own section

Thx

You have to be withing 40km or so from the port to dock there. Just press Escape, and Dock at...

However, when I do decide to dock myself, I usually sail right into the pen I left from, at 1 knot. Adds to realism http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well if you zoom right in, the name of the port is written closely to the head of that particular DOCK - you don't actually go in to the pen, (the covered docks). Though if you did and then hit 'Escape' it should work just the same, because, as Foehammer says, you're within 40km of your base port. But you want to hear the band play you in and have the nurses throw their underwear at you, don't you?

Actually, I haven't gone into the pen, but I might just do that to check this out - I'll make sure the periscope is down first.

But wait, it gets better! I sailed into Brest when it was still Allied (aka red). And, instead of coastal and naval barrage, I get the band and those same nurses throwing flowers http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
