View Full Version : Aircraft Reality?

Oleg - IL2 and IL2FB have always amazed me with their attention to detail and realism in both scenery and aircraft flight characteristics. I love both games and play them often. Their the best on the market today, bar none. However, this last update (v 1.21) puzzles me greatly knowing the reluctance I've seen from the writers over the past couple years to introduce new "user" flyable aircraft to the simulator.

Can someone explain to me what is the rational for introducing the KI84-1a and A6M5a, both Japanese aircraft, to a European Theater battle field and once again overlooking the importance of the P-38 (and other more important tide changing aircraft) in WWII? Neither of these aicraft EVER saw combat over Europe!

I judge from your statement that you are either new around here or an ignorant fool. It can never hurt to have more planes, especially when they are from other countries.

Besides having the PTO map, it's quite interesting seeing a russian Yak or a german 109 going up against those jap birds.

And your lamented P-38 is due to be released with the pay add-on, by the way.

So quit your reality-check whining, if you don't like them, don't use them, if you can't stand seeing them in games, stay away from servers that have them.

This is not an Eastern Front or strictly European theatre sim. It is a WW2 sim. I think the addition of the A6 & Ki84 are wonderfull. The P-38 is coming...be patient.

On the CD packaging for the game the following appears: IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles WWII 1941-1945.

Nothing there demands that it MUST take place strictly on the Eastern Front. Some are upset that the introduction of Normandy, Ardennes, and a PTO dogfight map are upsetting the "purity" of the sim. What purity? Eastern Front was one section of the war and we've got it covered in significant detail and depth that no other game has done...time to expand a bit and the ETO and the PTO feature many more nations.

The P-38 J and L versions will appear in the addon pack with signficant amounts of armaments (gun pods, rockets, bombs, the whole kit!), the P-63 a largely Eastern Front fighter will be arriving, we'll see some of the experimental German types (since most of their main frontline aircraft are covered in depth) and we're expanding the bombers with the addon or soon after with the B-25, Ju-88, FW 200, and plenty of other possibilities. There is also in the works fighter bombers such as the A-20 (yet another Eastern Front as well as Western), the Hawker Tempest (and Typhoon hopefully), and Spitfires...can't get enough Spits (once again appearing in no small number on the Eastern Front).

So PLENTY appearing in this addon pack. A couple of Japanese planes are just the beginning!

Finally...both the A6M5 and the Ki-84 are part of a Japanese release of the game. It only made sense to appeal to people in that country with a couple of their own aircraft.

I know why he doesn't like them. He is probably flying Yak or Lavotchin and the tactic used until now (turning and turning until you puke), is a death trap against them. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I think it will be extremely interesting to see how the P38 handles the Japanese planes, and the subsequent whining that will be sure to follow.

I also hope 1C considers a carrier sim in the future.. that would be a hoop of fun!

Its possible that the new addon/sequel (Luthiers project) might take place in the pacific.

That would explain the focus on Japanese and USA planes as of late.

Maybe you didn't understand the question or missed the point (once again). In either case, there's no use debating the issue with imbiciles and idiots! That's why I addressed it to Oleg. I enjoy flying each of the new aircraft (including the KI84-1a and A6M5a) and have turned most of you with knee-jerk answers into burning-holes-in-the-ground flying them!

The writers of this sim (not myself or any of you children) are the ones who have strove for historical accuracy. If Oleg now wants to expand the scope of the game, I think its GREAT and will only improve an almost perfect game. I'm just trying to get a heads up to the future of the best WWII flight sim on the market today.

Or to put this in some other words: "My first statement only sounded like whining, I simply was unable to put it right. Of course do I want new planes and new theatres as well, I just was unable to ask directly and precisely. And by the way, you all suck except that guy who managed to say what I didn't think of when I first posted here"

So while I now take back the "ignorant", you are still a fool.

Future could you put quotation marks around the quotes please.

As for the Lawn-Dart, it does not take much of an IQ level to figure out what 1C/Maddox Games is doing including Japanese a/c as well as the non EF American and British a/c.

Its not a matter of the developers adding why they want. I'm sure Oleg and crew would have been perfectly content if everything was east front only.

It's the fact they want to add planes that the customers want. Not just airplanes, but maps and addons as well. Not to mention that some of these are 3rd party, who can make whatever they want.

Any time Lawn Dart...I only seek to try and spread knowledge as best it can be spread and it was a fair question although the tone was difficult to decide on which is probably a bit of the reason why some have jumped on it as they have.

Recon_609IAP - I enjoy flying the P-47 (I'm making a D-22/27 campaign) and the current version 1.21 is probably just where it should be. Faster than the 51 at 9000 meters, the guns are now very dangerous, and it holds energy quite well...not to mention its probably the best fighter bomber we currently have in the game (massive payload and performance to deliver it). So I think its now quite good - especially compaired to the royal beating it was handed initially.
