Thanks for posting. I haven't seen any of these players thus far on HL, though - perhaps fortunately for me.

I expect to find neither honor nor honesty among thieves so I'm seldom disappointed or surprized by anything that develops.

Well it's not really too surprising considering you're playing Air Quake http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Um, it's called a joke, and for anyone who's been around here for a while (no, I don't see many of those folks here anymore), this would be funny because it's how hard-core IL2-ers insulted other sims such as CFS2 due to the numerous cheats that exist for it, hence the comparison to Quake. I guess to others it just seems childish and snide, but then it wasn't intended to appeal to the uninformed.

Ahhh... I see you are "putting me down" in a very clever and sophisticated manner that can only truly be appreciated by an inner ring of confidantes is that it??

You must be very pleased with you snide little comeback, and no doubt awaiting slaps on the back for your cleverness.

Personally, I thought you were just being an insignificant little *****, but thats just silly old me.

Wow, considering the kind of damage that can be done in other games, the series looks pretty bulletproof. Tis a shame there are cheaters though...

P.S. Have fun with the flame war...

take it easy on ross youss, leosk been using it along time, its been around since sturmovik nothing new but they caught youss typing it is all, so many use it, but most over comms and never type it.

he was dumb and got caught they seen the logs becuase they know if it too and just placing the blame on ross squad.

Believe me there are alot worse cheats then that tiny exploit.

OMG

dont the cheaters know that they are actually killing the game ?
any patches will be put off longer to deal with those cheats also.

**** , i hate this and other cheats , dont forget the ghostsquads in online wars.

and for those who dont call the coordinate cheat a cheat , remember that oleg didnt intent pilots to use this , so dont say that the game offers the option and u just use it.

**** cheaters ! dunno if Ross squad, Ross youss or any other pilot uses any cheats , my post here is in general to pilots who do.

Reminds me of this poor guy in high school that always suffered the rumour that one time while riding his bike down a big hill he fell and got his ballsack caught in the spokes of his wheel. Talk about a conversation starter for new girlfriends, eh? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Back the original point, we all know IL2 is cheat free, except for the externals cheat, the Nvidia driver hack, the James-bond reversing skins hack, the switch-sides-if-I'm-in-trouble-hack, and of course, Oleg's special "invisible man" hack. But if you go to megagames.com you can get all the cheat codes to reverse all these, called the IL2-ulti-hack http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Cheating is and always has been a part of online gaming. The worse thing that can be said is that a game is cheat-free which most folks have been preaching about Il2. making this claim is like slapping a hacker in his zit marked face with a 5 1/4" floppy disc. Once hacker develops said cheat/hack, he must distribute for self glory and sadly, there are many among the 'honorable' il2 online community that use them. the smart ones just do it in a smart way. Why? because the world is just full of lame a$$es. For the most part, online flying is fun so when the occasional 'lag' anomoly happens, just have to write it off and move on.

Surely Oleg can fix this, correct? I mean, is logging such things essential or can't it be encrypted?

I remember a sweet lil game called um Raven Shield that used to be fun till the hackers came up with cheats then the developers came up with Punkbuster, then the Hackers came up with more cheats to cheat the Punkbuster, then the developers patched, the cheaters cheated, more patches more cheats,...sigh I can hardly even ejoy it anymore because it refuses to stay at the resolution I play in, or run at the high framrates I used to get, now all the little kiddies accuse everyone of hacking and cheating so much I just quit playing it. Cheaters just suck

Maj_Death

I havn't seen a single cheater playing Raven Shield, but I only play coops so that is no suprise. No need to cheat against the AI, even though they are bullet proof aimbots at times.

In regards to ROSS_Yous's trick, this exploit (it isn't actually a cheat) is not something I've ever thought about but it is most definately doable, the logs are written as you go and all players get a copy of it. The risk in using this exploit is you have to minimize IL2 in order to read the log and that can crash IL2. This is really only a problem in online wars, DF servers and coops don't have these kinds of actions because it is pointless to use this exploit in them. In online wars however this could be a serious problem. When flying the He-111 in the early part of VEF2 I relied on superior speed rather than stealth so this never posed a problem for me then. Later on I switched to fast moving fighter bombers flying only a couple meters above the ground so that the enemy probebly couln't spot even me if they did know my grid location. This log exploit should be fixed, but it is not a killer for online wars. Just means you can't assume that you are safe when deep inside of your own territory.

If I recall correctly, the biggest problem with that piece of !@#$ was the fact that many legitimate would-be online players couldn't get their own licenses to work. Yeah, I think it was that problem as well as UBI's forum admin denying UBI was at fault in the situation that got me carting that game back to EBGames... Oh the good ole days http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

In comparison IL2 is great!

I actually think the location cheat is marginal since the AI already cheats in that capacity. The more hideous cheats would be aiming bots, lag spiking, etc.. those are just outright lowly.
