cool he converted , did all the points screw up, pivots and texture mapping?

Glad he converted it so it can be used in fb.

Making the 3D model and texture is actually the easiest part.

Now Oleg's 1C selecting it, pooring thru as much genuine performance data as possible, coding a flight model as IL2 doesn't use a crappy spreadsheet style of CFS, and then coding the damage model... Now THAT takes time.

Just looking at it you can see the lower poly count (for FB) compared to the Maya model /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Hey guys. Well I didnt lose any polys in the conversion but it sure was messy! There were verts duplicated 16 deep in places. Then I found out my polycounting was all wrong and I was 1800 over the limit! I shouldve just done it in Max to begin with. (im hearing "I told you so's all over the place!)

But... im close to the polycount now (3200) including gear and all. I'll start UV mapping real soon and should have textures rendering next week. Then onto the rest of the long list of to do's.

I hope someday we get the RNAF version. 16" shorter wingspan so even faster roll. Would be more historically correct if rumors of upcoming add-on are true. Might need flattops though.

Possible dumb question here guys, but why can't the wheels be round? Why do they have to be represented as a multi-sided object in stead of a real circle? I'm obviously not a 3D modeller, hence the question....

Because... Game models are made out of polygons, which are planes between 3 or more points or vertices. Maddox wants single engine aircraft to be under 3k polys, and they mean triangles (3 sided polys). So it's a real struggle to represent these aircraft the best we can without adding too much detail to the model.

That jagged looking tire already contains 115 triangles! So actually it should be even more blocky than it is. I just wanted to represent the Corsair's roundish tire a little, it's a major visual element I think.
