Was the category actually "Best Simulation 2004" as the thread title says? Pacific Fighters I can understand, but how can a non-stand alone addon pack like AEP qualify for this award? Wouldn't that be like an FS2004 or CFS3 payware addon, or a new revision of Falcon4 winning the same award?

Shhhh...

Dont tell Oleg.

Surely this will inspire him to continue making the best flight sims ever thus forcing me to waste more and more of my life in fronty of my computer trying to learn how to make my jug invincible.

Darn you Oleg, give me my life back!

Anyway, a well deserved award for the greatest sim ever produced! Hmmmm, wonder what will win when BOB is released??

In the USA (I don't know about the rest of the world), monthly magazines normally date their issues a couple of months in advance. An issue you get in the mail in February can be the March or even April 2005 issue . http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

For example, I just got the March issue of Hustler in the mail and....whooops, you didn't hear that from me ! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

"Available as standalone releases or integrated add-ons for IL2-Forgotten Battles, each game..."

Hmm... as I suspected, they mistakenly assumed AEP was a standalone. Anyway it's the big picture that counts, good to see the positive coverage for Maddox games.

I know this is nitpicking a bit, but how come the picture labeled "Pacific Fighters" shows a Komet and B-17 ? Yes you could get those in a merged version, but PC Gamer, couldn't you have shown a screenshot of some Pacific Theater planes ?

I don't think "PC Gamer" is exactly a source with the credibility to give out such reviews as this one here. Seems pretty malarky to me.

You're probably right. We don't need that type of "malarky" round here. I for one hate the idea that they are promoting this game as a top notch simulation. Now even more people are going to want to try it. Oh well, there goes our ability to keep this all to ourselves.

Tenneal has it right.

Targetware isn't even officially "released" yet. It's still in beta.

And, I don't take these industry lauds very seriously. It's like the entertainment awards (Oscars, Emmys, Grammys, etc.): they're often years behind the curve, and are biased towards what is "the most popular and saleable", not necessarily what is best.

I'm fine with Oleg getting lauds, anyway.

Which reminds me of a story.. My uncle.. He allways had about 10 projects going at once.. fixing the roof.. painting the house.. etc. He would get about 95% done with one and then move onto the other project.

I mean if a gate hinge needed 6 bolts he would put in 5 and then move on to the next hinge.. If he was painting a house.. we would leave one side unpainted.. Never NEVER finishing anything! Use to drive me nuts when I went over to his farm to help out!

I could never figure it out.. Until one day my dad came over and said.. Hey wayne.. You know that gate on the fence would be stronger if you put a cross bar in it.. And before my dad could finish my uncle replied with..

Oh.. Oh, that.. Oh Im not done with that yet!

Then it hit me.. My uncle could not stand it when someone judged his work.. So, what is the best way to never be judge.. NEVER FINISH IT! Keep it beta!

Now what with Targetware going on what? TWO YEARS? And the fanboi's only reply is that of my uncle's..

Oh.. Oh, that.. Oh Im not done with that yet! IT IS STILL BETA

Im glad to know my uncles work ethic has found a happy home

Does anyone have a better version?

We should give equal billing and post a link to all the PRESS RELEASES (magzines, etc.) that have writen about Targetware.. And what better place than to goto the Targetware PRESS RELEASE section

http://www.targetware.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=index&catid=&topic=6

Hmmm.. not much going on there.. How about some web sights Reviews and Interviews?

http://www.targetware.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=37&page=1

Ah.. that is more like it.. It seems that Targetware is very popular with the MAC owners in FRANCE.. Well at least it was ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO!

Hmmm.. On 2nd thought maybe that whole *equal billing* thing was just a bad idea? Lets just stick with the Targetware fanboi's presentation. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yes, we all have a better version. The fuel gauge does work. It only shows the last 300 litres. Start the mission with 25% fuel and you'll understand.

Well, this is just my opinion...

but Targetware is still a far better simulation for my money (even if I had to pay the subscription fee right now).

Even with all the "beta things" that are incomplete or not implemented... at least the models are accurate and unbiased... they have not changed radically 3 or more times ... and the scenarios play out FAR more believably than IL-2 ever has or likely ever will.

All this sim has EVER had on Targetware is eye candy and player numbers, pure and simple.

Just My Opinion ... but we're all entitled to that.

I'm glad to see any sim get praised in wide spread media. I happen to play most sims so I don't see why everybody is trying to turn sim against sim. The market for our hobby is so small that we are killing it by dividing oursevles. Any sim deserves our support http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
