More anime!!! Honestly, is there any diplomatic crisis that can't be solved by drawing a picture of some big eyed freak?

I give you PRINCE PICKLES!

http://www.cozymax.org/entries/pic/prince-pickles-070227.jpg

The best part is the quote from the Minister of Defence: "Prince Pickles is our image character because he's very endearing, which is what Japan's military stands for," said Defense Ministry official Shotaro Yanagi.

Endearing indeed. If only Japan had dropped some flyers showing Prince Pickles over Pearl, Hong Kong and Manila, imagine how much smoother things might've gone.

Of course it's real! The Japanese don't joke around when it comes to drawing vapidly cute cartoon characters.

Why do the characters in most anime not even look Japanese? I don't... understand

Yeah! I mean...clearly, having a head with three-fourths the mass of the rest of your body is clearly a physical trait of Scandinavian/Indo-European peoples!

I think he was rather refering to the fact, that most anime-characters have round eyes. In t his picture, the Arab-looking person has more Asian eyes, than the two next to him.

Same is for most other animes I've seen so far.

It's pretty common. Even in junior high school English texts, Japanese characters have big, round ,colourful eyes whereas characters from Korea or China have much smaller, coal black eyes.

Better to say it with giant robots. And if that dosen't work, then it's time for the tentacles I'm afraid.

But why is the soldier in the first drawing pinching the arab lady's tit? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Diplomacy has to start somewhere. It might as well be the nipples. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Looks like it was drawn by a child. And it probably cost a trillion yen to develop.

I dunno. The second picture looks like the Arab fella just sold those two some pretty potent meth to me.

I guess the solution to the Iraq problem is clever marketing.

The eyes are easy to explain.. Well sort. of..

The Iraqi guy in the pic is happy so he gets the happy crecent pointing down eyes. The big round eyes are a pretty important part of anime since in anime the eyes are used to convey the vast majority of emotions and various good guy bad guy charictar states. The big round here are saying things like I am a good guy who has nothing to hide. Strangley enough most people process the ideas from these images at a nearly subconcious level.

This is rminding me of a SouthPark episode. 8^)
