Sorry about the new name I've had to change it to post and tell you about this!

I've been busy looking for a modeler to work on Nils Whirly and make us a cockpit! Well, I got a few replies to a post I scattered about some 3d forums... One thing though, most want paying! The cheapest quote so far tendered for is for the princely sum of 450 Euros (‚£316 to you) so, what I would like to know from our small band of wannabes virtual Whirly pilots is... How much are you willing to pay, if we go for this route?

Opinions, Gentlemen please.

And can someone tell me why my sig. is not working? Doh!

Would the quality of the work in question come up to our expectations? Would the chosen artist meet an already tight deadline?
Read on a recent post that the Whirly will be added later as AI 'coz it "was a rare bird and information on it is scarce.." Yet we're getting flying wings and rocket-planes. Go figure...

Good to have you back Sec. Shame it's not with the news we all wanted to hear. Maybe we'd be better off badgering the powers that be for the Whirlwinds inclusion in BOB - if they want info' there's a thread in a forum on a website somewhere - if I could only remember where...

Well, theres been another modeler now who said he would be interested and has not mentioned the word "Money" I have not been in contact with any of these modelers yet as I still don't know what the Omega Squadron has in mind, being that they have asked for cockpit data. I have sent them a couple of emails but as yet I have not had a reply...?

I don't want to start talking with an outsider until I know if Omega will come up with the goods, if they have the right material... The clock is ticking!

Sec.

P.S. L-F always good to hear from you mate, I'm on the mend...Slowly!

I think it was an Omega Squadron thread that condemmed the Whirly to AI only...can,t find it on this new forum - although there is a pic of a Whirly cockpit posted by your good self in April in the original Westland Whirlwind thread. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Might be worth posting in Oleg's ready room and reminding him that the RAF had a fast twin-engined fighter in service in 1940....

Found a book entitled 'Somerset at War' at work - have you got it? Pics of Home Guards, pillboxes and a certain Aircraft factory from your neck of the woods.

'Somerset at War' No, can't say I have could you post a picture L-F?

"Might be worth posting in Oleg's ready room and reminding him that the RAF had a fast twin-engined fighter in service in 1940...."

The pilots that fought and died in them did not think they were at a disadvantage, in fact they use to think that the pilots flying in the Spits and the Hurri's had been given the short straw! At the beginning of the War the Whirly was all they had asked for. Unfortunately the powers that be just didn‚'t know how to use it and let the stove go cold.

Sigh...Mud always sticks and the Whirlwind was covered in it. Some of us can see through the muck at what's below, other's can only screw their faces up in disgust!

The way its going, it looks as though history will repeat her self and the Whirly will be passed over‚...Again!

How much more can we do? At least we have got a partly finished model of the Whirlwind, which is more than you can say for the Mosquito fans‚... It is a sad state of affairs when some of the great British aircraft of the Second World War are forgotten by our own Modellers and countrymen. Just think what would have happened to us if this were the attitude prevalent in Britain in1939‚...

I'll have the book away tomorrow and pass details on...

That CFS2 Whirly shouldn't be the only game in town...ho-hum...

Any Omega boys here who can clarify matters for us?
