i have yet to have whined on this forum yet but i am about to make an exception

i started posting here not long ago, probably about since february or something- so about 4-5 months
when i first came here i was quite impressed - a place full of people who shared my passion for one of the greatest sims ever - and would talk about it in a "reasonably" pleasent manner. in the short space of time between now and then this forum has rocketed downhill. i come on here just about every morning - and every time all i see is whinging, whining, accusations of cheating,p*ss taking, lack of respect(especially for Mods - many of which i think do their job well)and just attitudes in general.

i am not saying everyone is like this - far from it ( here i give credit ot BuzzU and MONS amongst many others- i'm not sure why - i just don't think i've ever seen ANY attitude from them- even when everyone else is letting rip so S! guys!)

i don't know if it's something to do with the closure of the pilots lounge or what - but i am rapidly losing patience with the general state of this forum - it seems harder and harder to find good threads because of all the BS. - like i heard someone else say similarily (perhaps it was bearcat) i only really come here anymore because i love FB so much.
i wish i had a solution - alas i do not,(i don't think ubi would set up a whingers forum) but i really hope that alot of people that visit this forum would just LIGHTEN UP A BIT and stop being such arses.

i was going to post this as a reply to a thread further down but it seemed people had started whinging in that thread so i thought i'd post this afresh and see what wonderful reactions i get ( probably a lock eventually)

Now thats my moment of hypocrisy out of the way, i'm wondering if anyone else feels the same way?
hope everyone has a nice day /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Well said, I totally agree with you. I have been reading the forums for maybe a year and only registered to get some tech help (which was given swiftly and fixed my problems) then lost my login and started another account a few months ago.

I think that some people are generally frustrated at the lack of a forum for off topic stuff (ie a way to socialise and share jokes etc) and also the seeming lack of definate info about the patch/addon.

But I do see others who just want to rant on about any minor grievance as if they have some special status due to their post count.

I tend to try to avoid the flamefests and whinges and just read the informative threads. However this is becoming harder as time goes on.

Hopefully some kind of accomodation will be made so that the forums can go back to how I remembered them 9 months to a year ago.

There are a lot of people whose posts have given me insight into both the game itself and WW2 aviation in general. Just trying to trawl through the mire to find them is my main issue.

I don't think it's too bad given the diversity of the community - other forums for other genres and even other flight simulators are much, much worse.

There's a huge amount of knowledge on this board, even if a lot of it manifests itself occasionally as trolling - I learn something new every day here!

True, the signal to noise ratio has decreased a bit in recent months but it's still generally an entertaining, interesting place to frequent.

Just my tuppence.

fluke39 ,

Thanks, but i'm sure there are many who won't agree about what you said about me. 98% of the time, i'm just fooling around, but that 2% I can get stupid. If everybody could keep from getting serious, it would make life easier. War is a serious subject, and it's easy to carried away, but this is a game. We should all lighten up, and have more fun.

If people want to have a laugh here, they will do.

If people want to be offended here, they will be (no matter what you post).

The evils of the world do not reside within this forum. Far from it. Some people just need to lighten up.

Just my 20fils (which has offended someone, no doubt/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif )

-------------

'Whingers'

correct spelling

'Whiners'

One mans 'whiner' is another mans beta tester.

This is the precise reason why mankind has progressed for thousands of years.

Otherwise there would no reason to change or adapt, as we would be happy with things the way they are instead of the way we dream they could be.

Perhaps you are confusing 'whiners' with 'troublemakers'. Although I understand like the term whiner itself, some whiners can be troublemakers depending upon your perspective. This is why some dictators and their followers kill political dissidence or the opposition party.

To your way of thinking, are free elections or freedom of speech just large 'whine' festivals? Or do they serve a greater purpose?

Like offering alternative perspectives to the prevailing wisdom or status quo of the day.

How do you feel this relates to progress of mankind or flight sims in general? Or is apathy and getting along with others regardless of the ramifications the secret to one's happiness in your view?

whiners, whingers means same thing to me (generally does in UK)

errr. i wouldn't neccesarily say this was true. OK so yes - we need people to point out flaws and such, but this can easily be done in a civil and constructive manner. all to often things are taken far beyond their useful limits.

OK perhaps i am blurring the boundaries a little. i guess i shouldn't have generalised everyone whos kicked off a little on this forum as a whinger- it just seemed handy for the thread title.

- To your way of thinking, are free elections or

free elections - i am not even going to answer
freedom of speech does serve a greater purpose - although take note of the free speech of Mr. Hitler. I am all for freedom of speech but again - we don't need the attitude

- Like offering alternative perspectives to the
- prevailing wisdom or status quo of the day.

yeah yeah but i would hardly describe threads which are along the lines of such and such is a f*cking hypocrite because he did this here and this there as offering any form of "wisdom" alternate or not to any situation.

- How do you feel this relates to progress of mankind
- or flight sims in general?

again yes it helps but i feel we don't need the attitude

- Or is apathy and getting
- along with others regardless of the ramifications

Is Anarchy and everyone having a go at each other the secret to happiness in your view?

So maybe i was a little arsey yesterday, OK so yeah your right SSS there is good stuff still around in abundance on this forum - i guess all the negativity just made me a little negative yesterday,i'm sorry, but the crux of my argument is that basically this forum has slid downhill over a short space of time. but yet if other ones are worse then i'm glad i'm here and not there.

You are under no obligation to read nor react to everything that is written in the forums. Don't let it upset you. The solution is simple...if you don't like the program, change the channel.
