A bloke from Honk Kong called Keith deals in WW2 reproduction German and US uniforms, field gear, helmets etc. He's selling some of his stuff on eBay at the moment dirt bloody cheap, have a look:
http://stores.ebay.com.au/ANT-Z-MILITARY_W0QQcolZ4QQdir...0QQftidZ2QQpZ2QQtZkm (http://stores.ebay.com.au/ANT-Z-MILITARY_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ0QQftidZ2QQpZ2QQtZ km)

Breeches, trousers, shirts and tunics for $12 Australian = about $10 US if my poor maths skills are correct.

PS: No, I don't work for Keith http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif A mate of mine emailed me that link so I thought I'd show you bludgers in case you were interested.

I like the m40 assault gunner tunic. With some minor modification it may make a nice jacket.

I have a hard time believing those items are worth a damn at those prices. The original uniforms were extremely labor intensive compared to the mass produced 'hefty bag' synthetics of today. The cut looks OK, or at least passable for movie wardrobe work, but I doubt the quality of the material and the seams would measure up to the original artifacts.

But for $60 or so USD it might be worth the risk. I've wanted a Panzerjacke or perhaps an early war Grossmantel since I was a kid. I've always said the guys with the coolest uniforms usually lose wars, and the Germans were proof of that theory. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Having owned some WW2 stuff in the past I would agree - the quality of the workmanship, especially in US uniforms, is really very, very high. At one point I acquired the lining and buttons from an M41 US army jacket and had a reproduction outer made but sourcing the material and getting the quality was very hard.

That reminds me.... I have seen a great series of color photographs taken in a German uniform factory, circa 1942 or 43. I got them from the axis history forum, and the original scanner got them from some sort of factory yearbook. I'll post them if I ever run across them again.

What ever you pay for a repro, its always to expensive. The original is the best buy, but the most expensive.

We have a museum here in the Netherlands (its well known at this furom) when you visit it, you will see alot of reproduction uniforms, daggers etc, such a shame.

This baby ,i have from me grandfather, as its original (stamps and year inside) 1936, my granddad got it during the war ,it was from the Arbeid Einsatz. Cant remember how he got it

When I was in Hong Kong last year I saw a guy in a noodle bar wearing the full SS uniform. Jack boots, arm band, Iron Cross first class - the works. Scarfing down his wonton soup like a real Teutonic superman. What a ****. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
