Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and I would like some help if possible.
I recently purchased the game from Compusa and installed it yesterday. I also have a Saitek x45 Flight Joystick installed as well.
The controls on the Joystick work well except for the throttle. I have to manualy adjust it from the keyboard.
I tried to change it to use the throttle stick that comes with the joystick but it would not let me.
Is this something that I can adjust within the actual game or will I have to do adjusments to the Joystick outside of the game.?

Welcome/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
go to the controls section and scroll all the way down to the HOTAS section. click next to Throttle and move the throttle on the X45, IL2 should recognize it.

if your interested there are a couple of good profiles for the x45 in the link in my signature.

Thank You very much every one. I am at work now but when I get home. I'll try it.

One more quick question... Are there alot of people into this game as far as playing it online?

Welcome to the forum! There are a vast number of people that fly on-line. Hyper-lobby and UBI are the main places to find people (I prefer Hyper-lobby)

This community of ours is Worldwide. The entire IL2 community comprises of thousands of people. Offline or online, most all of whom play FB regularly, would pretty much never argue against the sim, in my opinion.

Thank You all. I am in an intense learning stage right now but once I get more familiar I'll start joining the battles.

Thank You

Hello m8, I am very happy with my X45, but I needed some pedals with it for this sim. CH Pro USB, if you have trouble with the 'rudder rocker'.
Cheers!

Ladies & gentlemen, this is the captain speaking. Thankyou for choosing to fly Mandarin Airlines. Those passengers sitting on the left-hand side of the aeroplane please make yourselves comfortable. Those sitting on the right... please look to your left!

Yup, X-45 is great but the rudder is very hard if you are used to a twist grip stick.
Im also gonna get some pedals, been flying with the X-45 for about 6 months now and am not yet completely comfortable with the rudder.

Here is a few "If's" for you X45 owners:

1. IF you are on a limited budget and cant afford the USB CH peddals, AND

2. IF you are a fairly brave sort, AND

3. IF you are slightly handy with a soldering iron,

you can open up the X45 and replace the rocker rudder with direct input from a set of analog (Gameport) pedals from CH. The conversion will cost you a fraction of the USB price, but you will not have a toe break. I saw an article on Sim HQ about doing this, and it was really quite simple. I made it even simpler because the poster's instructions included opening up the handle of the throttle. All that was really needed was opening up the base. There are only a couple of wires to cut and solder to the analog pedals from the throttle portion of the X45. I went ultra-fancy and put a 15 pin plug into the throttle base for quick installation/disconnection.

This technique also works well for people that have limited USB connections on their motherboards...

I may break out the digital camera in the next couple of days and re-do a tutorial on the installation. In all it took me a grand total of 30 minutes to complete this, and I saved about $80.00 US.

sorry this might be a dumb question, but make sure you have the throttle plugged into the base of the stick itself. another thing you might try is uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers for the stick. once you get everything setup you might try configuring the throttle backwards for i noticed it helps having the controls closer to you than leaning forward. setup the throttle so that you increase power by pulling the stick towards you insted of the typical push forward to get power. this setup allows you to have the rudder more closer to you and all buttons on the throttle too. if not i would recommend the CH Pro rudder pedals, they're awesome and you can get them at a better price here: http://www.provantage.com/buy-110chpu-ch-shopping.htm

than you can at the CH manufacturer

actually it is really is interesting how "to each his/her own"
I LOVE the rudder rocker in the X45 and I had rudder pedals. I much prefer having the rudder right at my left hand...

I guess to each "his/her own"...

You don't have to operate on the X45 to have rudder pedals in place of the rocker.

See my post "A Control System for IL-2: FB" on this forum, it is a much simpler way to use analog rudder pedals with the X-45. And doesn't void the warranty. I now have the rocker programmed for brakes.

I also posted to http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?s=c3a69e2468cbd64ad2225b535b9c8190&threadid=4254", (http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?s=c3a69e2468cbd64ad2225b535b9c8190&threadid=4254) see my second post.
