Need help IL2 Veterans,

What is the minimum height that you must be at generally speaking to bail out and survive in IL2 ? (in straight level flight lets assume)

Also, could some of you veterans point me towards a good guide to making my first skin, or link some other articles here at Ubi/SimHQ/M4T so that I can get started on painting my warbird.

Also, I now have my temporary server up and running, do you guys know where to go to, to limit the planeset (I am trying to have a fun server with a naval aviation theme (zekes, corsairs or wildcats), so I dont want guys choosing La-7s and Spit 25 pounders ? Do I need to do this through the FMB ?

Thanks - Jay

Simmers Paintshop (http://www.simmerspaintshop.com) is a good place to start, lots of tutorials, and the fellows there have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to skinning that I'm sure they'd be happy to pass on.

You can also check out the Paintscheme section (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/45410763) of the UbiZoo. Ask around, study the paintschemes, and just practice, practice, practice.

As for bailing out, I wouldn't try it bellow 100 meters (300 ft).

1000 meters is generally a nice, safe altitude to bail out at.

Unless you're over the Alps, of course... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

i think something like 150 is minimum bailout altitude.

A safty parachute needs more or less 50m to open and another 50m to slow you down to a reasonable landing speed.
