I'm always amazed when certain individuals write that the DM is wrong for such-and-such aircraft. We've all read them. Well if you think its easy to model damage to an A/C in a computer sim, consider this story about the Shuttle investigation. With all the experts, scientists and high powered computers that NASA has, guess what they had to do to conclusively determine what damage a loose piece of foam would do to the wing? NASA spent $3.4 million to build a replica of the Wing section, then use an "air gun" to fire a 1.7-pound piece of foam at the wing mock-up!

With that in mind, I have to say that I'm pretty satisfied with the DM accuracy in FB, considering what's necessary to validate them. To those who wish to continue bashing the DM: please supply results of your testing on exact replicas of WWII A/C /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Thank you for your support.

Well I am surprised this one only had one hit.../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I have no problems with the DMS, or even the overall FMs with FB. I think it is light years ahead of any other sim I have ever played even as is, post patch and we are talking about interdimensional differences. that's why I never relly argue with the developers. We may have a pretty knowlegeable community but I doubt any of us (like say 98% of us) have done the amount of research that was done by Oleg & crew to come up with all the specs from graphics, to FMs & DMs for this sim. So I go with the flow and try to use what is here as best I can.

Dude, The Space Shuttle is WAY Undermodelled, that's why. The DM on the thing is all screwed up - I can hit it with 13mm MGs ALL DAY and it seldom even smokes, but you hit it with a piece of foam and it's wing falls off! I feel sorry for the individuals who died on the Columbia, but if as much attention had gome into the DM as the FM it wouldn't have happened.

What other online flight sims have you played and how would you compare those that you have played to FB?

I'm pretty impressed with both NASA & FB.
But God is another story i think he has definitely undermodelled me. i mean I know should be able to leap buildings in a single bound....i've complained but his sutomer service dept. must be run by Miscrosoft or something....!

BTW do you know Bill Gate's wife's nick-name for his willy ??

Yep, "Microsoft"

Who me? I have flown all the CFS series on line, Warbirds 2 & 3, Fighter Ace 3, and Aces High. I like FB for the total package. The viewing features and the FMs are top notch IMO...the DMs are great...no hit boxes..... you shoot up a guys rudder, or his tail, or his elevator, or his rear fuselage..... His wing or his aileron, or you hit one of the joints and seterate the wing from the plane. Hit the tanks and set him on fire...etc...etc..etc...

When aiming at the Shuttle, I suggest trying for the left wing.
