well, I am kinda new to real simulation and i love the valor of those brave men who flew in world war 2....

i have a few totally newbee questions ..

1) In joystick setup, what is "filtering"

2) What is fuel Mixture? [ what things are mixed ]

3) I am ok in dogfighting Luff if i am on tail with LaGG, but what if I go head on? those gerry planes have real punch of firepower to clip my wings off =( so basically how to take a head on plane ?

4) what is propeller pitch ?

5) is there a good manuver to change flight direction by 180 degrees without loosing much of airspeed ..

i have got force feedback logitech wingman 3d joystick .. is it ok to keep it? I opted for it because it was cheap. i mean i am too new to joysticks and stuff .[just got this baby last week]

Welcome to the boards Ace,

4)The prop pitch governs how much the prop blades "bite" into the air.

The others can probably answer your questions better.../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

ignore filtering, its for old joysticks

mixture is the 'richness' of the fuel/air mix. As you gain altitude there is less o2 in the air so you need a higher air to fuel ratio to get efferent combustion.

a split S will change your direction 180 degrees and leave you w/ more air speed than when you started.

fuel mixture represents, the mix between the fuel quantity and air quant. that goes into the motor. above certain alt, the engine needs more fuel besider the air for giviing adequat power.
The biggest prob in a head-on is not ripping of wings, but engine damage and Pk, there aren't "precise" head-on tactics, but you could try coming from above, eventualy without beeing seen, and shoot when close, at the enemy plane's engine and belly.
A good training for theis could be flying an Il2early against 4 G.50.
Some planes are simplyt imposible to shot down in head-ons(except if the piloy is a deplorable noob), like 190,Lagg3 1941, La7.
for changing to 180, maybe should try a split S: reverse your plane and pull the stick(gently), until you changed to 180. Siple just like a reversed half loop. But can be tricky, don't follow enemy planes doing this while flying an easy stallable plane.

A 'good' landing is one from which you can walk away. A 'great'
landing is one after which they can use the plane again<center>
