Hey guys, I have a MS Force Feedback 2 and the twist stick rudder seems to be acting up. Twisting to the left works fine but twisting to the right has no effect so im guessing its broken. Is this a problem any of you might have encounted before? Is by joystick buggered?

Thanks

You can check whether it's working in the calibration utility in the stick's own software. From memory, there's a display that has a red bar that moves in response to moving the stick. No movement = dead stick.

However, I find that sometimes my MS Sidewinder loses its aileron response in game. If I restart the game or unplug it and plug it back in again it restores it every time.

Good luck.

I have tried unplugging the usb and power cable and theres no change.

The thing is though, the rudder will work when twisted to the left but when twisted to the right nothing happens. I will take it apart later and see if theres anything weird looking inside.

But did you try to calibrate it at all? In game controllers properties?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I had that problem to.

Tip:
1 Clean first the laser in ure grip , top and bottum.
If the problem is still there than cheak the whire`s.

Mine problem was one broken wire for the right side rudder/movement.
If i rimember it correctly it was the orange collour whire.
I have repare it by puht in a new whire and it running great again.

I have 2 FFB2 with that problem. And that's how I solved it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

OK, a bit unconventional, but I was going to get me some pedals anyway so I just had done this at the right point of time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I don't need that axis anymore http://www.ubisoft.de/smileys/13.gif

I might add: I just didn't want to open that thing because of the FFB stuff. Dunno how hard it is to fit it together again.

crazyivan1970: There isn't really a calibration tool for the ffb2, I guess it does it automaticly or something http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

KG26_Oranje: I had a look inside the handle and all the wires looked good. I put it back together and now when I twist to the right it actually does something, well it goes to the right but only half way. See pics: http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/1015/ffb21aj7.th.jpg (http://img45.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ffb21aj7.jpg) http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/9528/ffb22fs2.th.jpg (http://img237.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ffb22fs2.jpg)

Willey: I would love to get pedals but I just don't have the room for them http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

as to Ivan's suggestion about recalibration, that is not applicable as the Microsoft Force Feedback 2 does not have a calibration feature. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

I have the problem also on one of the five FF2's I own.

You can search on a detailed post I made in the past on disassembly of the joystick handle
to fix the trigger button problem.

I have not tried yet to fix the rudder issue on the one I have, I know there is a wire in there that forms part of the rudder mechanism in the shape of a 'V', this part provides the return to center "spring " action of the twist rudder.. Can't remember what this attaches to, my guess is you're problem is there..
