Hi there,

I bought a book at an airshow recently, "Ilyushin IL-2 And IL-10 Shturmovik" by Yefim Gordon and Sergey Komissarov, published by Crowood. See Here. (http://www.amazon.ca/Ilyushin-Il-10-Shturmovik-Yefim-Gordon/dp/1861266251)

In a chapter called " The Il-2 and Il-10 in Museums And Collections" there is a sub-heading, "United Kingdom". Which I was somewhat surprised to see.

I qutoe that sub-section :

"Some examples of the Il-2 have found their way to the Unoited Kingdom in the shape of wreckage discovered during recent years and deemed suitable for restoration. In 1998 three Il-2s, comprising two single, and one two-seater with a rear gunner station were imported by Jim Pearce. A fourth example was added later. Their subsequent fate is unknown."

And thats that.

The only web reference I have found thus far is THIS (http://www.warbirdfinders.co.uk/progress_reports.htm) which says pretty much the same.

Does anyone have any idea what happened to these planes/plane wrecks? I'd love to see them.

Regards.

Pretty sure I heard about an IL-2 being restored at Hendon.

Thanks Uther,

A swift google from your answer revealed this thread at keypublishing

I must admit I can only skim the thread with one eye shut (im drunk). bUT the gist is that this is an IL-2 Hendon are restoring on the basis of a swap for a Spitty, or swapping for a ten year exchange of IL-2/Spitty?

It was restored at Gamston by Coopers for the RAF Museum, but moved from there due to a falling out over hangarage I believe.. I did go see it when I was there, Another thing my job got me into http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
