I have a question. I am playing Il2 Sturmovik Demo and I wanted to know the difference between IL2 Sturmovik Demo and IL2 1946. Also, I am going to get IL2 1946 soon with the Saitek AV8R. Any Replies will be appreciated and Thank You in advance.

You get many more flyable aircraft, in fact almost all the important fighters at least, better graphics, arguably better ai, many new maps, etc etc. It's half a dozen games combined in one. You won't be disappointed.

The differences are:

- Over 300 flyable aircraft (plus many more AI controlled oens) instead of just a handful of choosable in the demo

- Theatre of Operations spanning from (of course) the Eastern Front, Western Front, North Africa over to the Pacific. However some theatres are better represented than others, especially NAfrica and Western Europe could have used some more maps.

- A wide range of dynamic offline missions to choose from for all kinds of different nationalities (Germany, Russia, UK, US, Finland, Japan, ... list goes on)

- and of course the online component with the ability of flying in dogfight, coop or dynamic online campaign missions

In short: You cant really do anything wrong with buying IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

Definitely get it. Uhhh....ALLOT of little things have changed since the demo days. The flight model is significantly more accurate now than it was before...it'll take some getting used to if you've gotten used to the demo but it'll feel very natural after a few outings.

More aircraft
More features
More scenarios
Better grapics
Better AI
Better sounds
Better flight models
Better damage models
Access to other flyers online

and last but certainly not least...
1946 will give you acess to some of the 3rdf party unofficial but very nicely done mods out.

The IL2 demo is like watching a 20 minute trailer for a 3 hour film on a nice television.

1946 is like watching the entire film in IMAX HD with full surround sound.

You also get the right to proclaim that the (fill in the blank) won the war.

Just to add some balance:

Demo features:

- much better sound
- more challenging flight model
- Gumby-like pilots
- nostalgia + for those who originally installed it
- no need to get caught up in who won the war
- arguably, more 'fun'

If the demo supported TIR, I'd still be playing it.

You wont regret it, if you love airplanes.
Besides the differences people already mentioned, there is a huge gap in MG151 performance in Demo and in 1946 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.
BTW that is German 20mm cannon fitted in their WW2 airplanes.

Simple answer

If you like the Demo, and all that's in it.

You going to Love 1946, and be overwhelmed with whats in it.

Is the demo still offered anywhere? It came out in what 01? Where did you find it at? Just curious.

I found the Demo when I was searching for a new combat flight Sim. Previously, I was occupied with YS Flight Sim.

+1

Get too used to the demo and you will have to relearn rudder use at the least as that really changed in level 4 flight model.
