I can't imagine Mars would actually look as large as the moon. As bright maybe, but not as large. There's just no way. Also whoever wrote that apparently doesn't know the difference between "cultivate" and "culminate".

Found this after a little digging:

Note the correct grammar in the text quoted there. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Utter rubbish I'm afraid. It will look cloudy orange and be easily distinguished from other stars. It will however be no where near the size of the moon.

Definitely BS.

Think about this in terms of Trigonometry.

Mind you this is terribly inaccurate visually

...................../|
................../---|
..........H..../-----|
............/-------|.O
........./---------|
....../-----------|
.../____________|
............A

O = Mar's diameter = 4225 miles
A = Distance to Mars = Approx 34,500,000 miles
H^2 = (O^2) + (A^2) = (1.19 x 10^15)^2

H = SQRT of 1.19 x 10^15 = 34,500,000.26

Sine = O/H = 0.000122463

Sine -1(0.000122463) = .007 degrees

.007 degrees represents how large Mars will appear in the night sky.

No, it is not a hoax. It is, in fact, part of my evil plan to conquer the world and reduce everyone to sexual slavery to conceive a new breed of half-bald geniuses.

This is when Vegas attack from the dark side of the moon and when Mars will be that close...

But no worries we have the Prince Actarus with Goldorak to defense Earth!
