Hi

I havent seen the Omega driver for ati radeon being metioned so much here on this forum. I just tried it out. Recently I have been happily improving my gaming experience with better gameplay, just by following all the tweaks that I have found.

I managed to get 25 fps in the Death Track with perfect settings in 1152*864*32@85. But online and with little water on map I would rather prefer excellent and enable 2AA and 2AF.

After I tried the omega driver, I reach the same results as before, but now with 2AA and 2AF enabled in perfect mode. I wouldnt thought that, a year ago, seeing a slide show with perfect settings on my 9600 pro.

One more thing, the artifacts with the black smoke is gone now. I was so used to it, thinking it was inevitable with ATI and this game. They seem a little darker too. Shadows also seems different.

Any other users with Omega? Are there reasons against it?

Hi Pingu !As one of the Omega driver fans maybe you can help...?I have a 9800Pro should I download the 9800"SE" download or just the 'normal' one.Id really like to do the softmod to XT thing but dont want to mess anything up.

well, i do the softmod AND overclock http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
but have 9800se aiw....

if yours is a 9800PRO, then use "normal" theres a overclocking thingy in the drivers, and u can use that to get XT speeds http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

with the overclockin tab, click advanced, and reduce the maxium amout from 177777mhz or sumin silly, to about 430 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif then up the clockrates, and do a run of 3dmark. go up in 10-5mhz steps http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

there's an easier way to do that, download a program called atitool. I'll run a test "find max core" and "find max mem" and they'll tell you what to set the omega drivers overclock settings to.

I tried that Atitool program after your recommendation but it did take some time to find out, abortet it after some hours. Give it a try tomorrow when at work.

Everybody bothered with artifacts on smoke in Il2+ should try this driver.
