Hi there people,

I've been looking forward to playing this game for quite some time now, I finally got the time and money to play this game.

I've been very busy lately, expecially due to the militairy check-ups i had to undergo so that I could join the submarine fleet.

I had to take the train north everytime to get there so that took away all of my money. But now I'm ready for it! I made it! I'll be joining the submarine fleet november 14th! Can't wait!

So...Since I have no experience with this game (played Silent Hunter 2 alot though) I was hoping to get some good info here, I've checked some posts here and am very pleased with the info given, it made me wiser!

Now, if you guys have any good hints, tips or warnings for me, let fly men!

-Blithe

My dad served from 1939 (Enlisted the day after Hitler marched on poland) and retired 1959.. Thats 20 years.. In the NAVY.. He retired out as a E9 or Master Chief.. In electronics.

When he enlisted they wanted to send him to subs (so he told me) But he flunked the swimming test..

Up untill he died a couple years ago he never did learn how to swim lol... Think of it.. Serving 20 years in the navy and never learning how to swim...

EDIT.. Oh and by the way.. The only problem i have had with the silly Starforce junk is that i had a smudge on my CD once... was esily fixed.. (Was preventing the game from validating the CD.....) But oh well.

It is a great game man..

First off let me say when you start insulting people on this forum its against the rules and it can get you banned wnt2rd..

Second...I have been working with UBISOFT and many others and this is a serious problem. The game itself is a good game but the problem is Starforce Copy protection. So Blithe_88 this is why I recommend you make a wise decision.

Thirdly there has been some Starforce employees that have admitted coming to this forum trying to insult peoples reputations like myself saying things like: "These guys don't have any idea what they are doing and there is nothing wrong with Starforce copy protecton"

Blithe_88 You have to make your own decision. If you want to pm me I can enlighten you further.

Blithe, seems like one or 2 individuals here are only interested in taking the wind out of people's sails, even before they've slipped the DVD into the drive for the first time.

Like most people will say here, it's a great game. I'm personally enjoying it immensely.

While more than the average number of people have had trouble installing the game and/or the StarForce drivers that come with it, the vast majority of us either have no problems or have resolved them.

As a beginner, I recommend that you bookmark The Community Manual (http://www.communitymanuals.com/shiii/), required reference material that goes above and beyond the game's supplied elementary documentation.

Welcome aboard!

Although this guy is probably a nice kid, I think he has crashed to many times on his motorcycle and has way to much free time on his hands. That and being spoiled and not having full time work will do that to you. He also has a personality which makes him think he is the only one that is significant in this world in which we live and all others are not worthy.
I feel sorry for you. But in time you will mature and hopefully your brain will heal and a new and better you will emerge.
A suggestion, unless you can contribute to this forum may I suggest you stop spamming others posts.

wnt2rd, knock it off. No need to keep on with the insults to ANYONE here on the forums. If I get another complaint from anyone you will be banned...permanently. And yes, I CAN do that.

Gday all,

Just at the Soulcommander, I still see myself as a kid, im 19 less than a year out of school. I've worked full time for the government, i've gone to Uni, and i've had a parttime job. I'm currently employed only 5 hours a week as i take a 'break' before commencing more work. I'm curious as to what you mean by saying "That and being spoiled and not having full time work will do that to you.", with an emphasis on the not having full time work... I believe i'm well rounded, polite, and i try to be a decent bloke... not having fulltime employment doesnt have much bearing on that i feel.

Perhaps i simply misinterpreted your post, in which case i apologise for asking you to explain what you meant by it more fully.

Either way, it piqued my interest, and im in a post-y kind of mood!

cheers,
baggy

After reading some of the posts replying to the player "getting the game tomorrow", I felt I had to add my two cents worth.

My first entry to sub sumulation was Silent Service for the Atari 1040ST back in the mid 80's. I LOVED that game. That was the first game that almost got me a divorce http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif It was NOTHING compared to SHIII. I buy a game and get into it and try to have fun. I really don't want to find stuff wrong so I can complain about it. If the basics are in good order, I'm fine with it. The really technical stuff (or maybe some of the historical data) doesn't concern me too much if the game is playable, and fun. And I guess I'm not as geeky as I sometimes think I am because I don't want to get caught up in the difficult mechanics of it all (like totally manually targeting a torpedo shot). Let the WO do that. I want results!

So, in short, I really enjoy the game at somewhat less than 100% difficulty level. Guess I wouldn't have made it in the real war http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif
