At night I decided to do a little star gazing and what was that? Huh... what do you know... the big dipper!

And I'm not sure what this one is... Casiopea? or something like that?

This isn't anything to do with the sky... but I was just wondering: If they're all at the guns, who's driving???

Yeah. I'm an amateur astronomer, so seeing stars in their right places is a great bonus for me.

Well, FS2004 does have a very accurate stars placement with 3 different level of intensity.

Yes its true. The stars are made so that it is relistic. I read it in a review. They took time to make the stars accurite so you can accualy navigate with the stars if you know them well. lol nice pic with the guns and driver.

Yep, you can follow the pointer stars in the big dipper right to the north star. Only the milky way is missing now. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Im assuming that the little boat has torpedos on the side, if not then ignore the rest of this post.

But I was going thru the channel and came accross 2 or 3 of these guys, they only fired machine guns, what about them torps?

I am not so impressed by this (we had it already in AOtD).

It is very easy to implement fixed stars (you only have to consider the earth rotation). much harder it would to show also the planets (like mars, venus, saturn, etc.) and their correct positions since they (and planet earth) are moving all the time ...

That's news to me. AoD had stars, but they weren't actual constellations as far as I know. The closest Dynamix got to rendering a proper night sky was in Red Baron 3D which had a moving star 'globe' so that stars would rise and set. However, they got the globe inside out so all the stars were backwards. Great idea, poor implementation.

One of these days I'll get my astronomy program and check out star charts for a date in the game and I'll see if they match up, and if the planets are there.

Actually, it is the "Big Dipper", or "Ursa Major" (The Great Bear), if I were to be pedantic. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Hey Beeryus... how you guys holdin' up? Looks like I've missed a $hitstorm of neggy vibes since I bailed?

Kick-a$$ sim, is it not? Buggettes notwithstanding.
