View Full Version : Are the Bf109Gs different in FB than in Original IL-2?

I just installed the FB and flew the bf109 G-10/14 in QMB. I felt they are different from the bf109 G/A 1944 in the IL-2 original. The engine sounds like it was over-heating and I don't feel the speed and/or power.

Have the characteristics of bf109s been changed in FB? In addition, I couldn't keep with P-47 and P-51 in QMB. Is this right?

If the P-47 is diving you can kiss him goodbye. If is climbing it depends how much energy he still have. If you level fight you should not have any problem 1 vs 1 against a P-47 although you have to hit him pretty hard. If there are more than 1 P-47 then you may have problems. Firing all those 8 fifties at you there's a very small chance that they will miss. Beware.

Every thing is different in IL2 FB, I fly the FW109 in IL2 and that is a really good plane. FB it is slower and stalls at the drop of a hat /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif .

I can do a loop in the HE111 better than in a fighter hahaha /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif .

many accelarations are wrong, Hopefully in 1.2 many things will be fixed concerning rollrate, elevator effectiveness's, accelarations, sea level flight speeds low, med and high alt performances, prop pitch, fuel mix and overheat times and cooling off engine times.

Of cause the FMs of most aircraft have been tweaked in FB (although not always to their best). Great work was done to the G6 and G6_Late. The latter now is one of my favourite planes although it won't go fast in level flight.

The G6/AS very good now. It won't overheat that easily as in IL2. Compared with the G14 (which has almost the same engine) the G6/AS has lighter takeoff weight so it should be superior. For me the G14 is the best 109.

For some reason i don't like the G10. It carries a new engine (DB605D) but that seems to run at lower RPM than the old DB605A(S)M so in my opinion it has less power.

There are many people who love the K4 but it is much heavier than any other BF109 in the game so ...

Try them out and find your personal favourite. Good hunting.

I had trouble with the BF-109G6's in IL-2, but that was mostly because I tried to turn-fight with them. I was used to the "Friedrich" and "Emil" series...

Yes they are acceptable in IL-2 but feels unstable and rubbery in FB. Dont fly them at all.

For me, all the planes flew different. I was told after posting a similar question on this forum, that the FM's are more realistic that the original IL-2. The first thing I noticed is the speed of the a/c when taking off. The FB planes seemed to build up speed a lot slower than the original IL-2. Actually, I thought this was more realistic because the a/c in the original built up speed and took off to quick. I'm sure there are others differences also, but I can only comment on what I noticed. These other guys are more experienced that I and I'm sure they can inform you of other differences in the FM's. ~S~

The new patched flight models are absolutely perfect now.
Oh, and the pre patch Flight models were perfect too.

Tedious unoriginal philoshophical statement the pith of which is lost in repetition.

I installed the Patch 1.11 full version last night and played online for an hours.

I flew the following aircrafts:

Bf109 G10/G14/K4/ G-6 A/S
FW109 D9/A8
Yak 9K

My observation is that all these a/c have engine over-heating tendency. Bf109 G10/G14/K4/ G-6 are the worst.
Also, all engines made a strange sound (i.e. sign of over-heating), which is quite different from the one in IL-2 Original. I DID NOT feel the "power" and "speed" of the a/cs.

Did I do anything wrong? Can I change the set-up for engine sound and over-heating problems?

FB is supposed to be a better game than the IL-2, isn't it?
Anyway, I'll keep my IL-2 on my computer.

Thanks for your feedback.

The FB version has a much more complex FM and CEM. In 1.11 the CEM has some issues in some (OK, most) of the 109 versions. Try the 109G2 as it flies the best on auto settings.
