When I play as wingman in a fighter-bomber squadron, sometimes, if my fighter escorts get entirely shoot down, my bombing squadron begins to cyrcle flying, stopping cruise flight towards assigned target.
I think this and other strange situations may be resolved adding more and new radio command possibilities, such as: "Keep going afther target!", "Move! Let's go!", "Request vector to target", "Switch to Primary/Secondary Target", or other similar things.

Especially, I think that the communication between Flight Leader and Ground Control could be greatly imporved. For example, we could have the following options:

(8) To Ground Control
1- Request assistance.
2- Request vector to home base.
3- Request permission to land.
new 4- Request vector to primary target.
new 5- Request vector to secondary target.
new 6- Request vector to friendly fighters.
new 7- Request vector to friendly bombers.
new 8- Request vector to enemy fighters.
new 9- Request vector to enemy bombers.

Answers may be:
4- Primary Target, 20 Km ahead, vector 060.
5- Secondary Target, you're in sector, vector 180.
6- Friendly Fighters, 50 Km behind you, incoming, angels 20, vector 200.
7- Friendly Bombers, 70 Km on your 3 O'clock, on route to target, angels 15, vector 090.
8- Enemy fighters, 30 Km about, angels 8, vector 045.
9- Enemy bombers, 6 'clock, angels 4, within your sight!
Or also...
(9) Frequency.
1- Friendly
2- Enemy
3- Keep Radio Silence.
4- Break Radio Silence.
5- Radar Controller (continually reports about vectors of friendly and enemy airplanes sighted on radar, in real time).
There are a lot of possibilities to make this game more immersive thanks to Radio commands/messages.

This is a great idea.
I'd like to see the entire radio system / menu tree revamped.

And the ability to bind direct radio commands to keys so we can all stop fumbling around the tab key and number keys.

Oh, and that CHAT thing is horrible!

How about some easy chat macros? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Yes I am all for it.The ground control especially and the rader controller. The only thing is not to give the type of plane away such as bomber or fighter.I dont think they had that technology back then instead it was just a screen with blips on it.Again also for the armies that used this.I dont think the russians had this sort of communication until late in war.

I would like another wingman command like

--Take evasive action!--

If anything to avoid getting wasted in headon's and such.

Or even a protect order, where you could padlock a friendly, and tell your wingman/men to protect a bomber, recon craft, or such.

"Never pet a burning dog."

I agree and I would add one more. "Number X you are cleared for take-off". The X is your plane number in the flight.

Great idea! esp, the radio silence/vectoring and controllers.

I agree! This is fantastic idea. i thought somthing along the same lines myself. Also some new formation commands would be good as well. personaly i find the 4 A/C flight formations some what limited. i would like to see the option of a 6 or 8 Aircraft formation & wing.

Ability to command single fighters to attack diffirent targets.

Cool, that will give the game a position as Air Traffic Controller sitting in a center or tower /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

You can already do that, sort of. Padlock onto an air or ground target, and tell your zveno/schwarm (if you are flight leader) to "5. Attack My Target", and right after, tell your Wingman to "1. Rejoin". The second element of your flight will proceed to attack the target you designated, leaving your element to continue on independently. You can also command any other flights under your authority in the same way. It's not the same as ordering around individual fighters, but would you really be doing that in real life?

I'd like to see the AI report the position of dots
that they see, and then add further information, such
as type/nationality when possible. The 'vector to nearest
enemy fighters' would sort of give you the same information,
but having squadron mates report it tenatively would
add to immersion. In any case the 'vector to nearest' sounds
like it is a ground control related command, and should
be dependent on radar, forward observers, other aircraft,
etc, detecting the aircraft and informing your ground control.

So it might take quite a bit of work (a next sim project?)
if each ground unit, radar unit, and air unit had to keep
track of what it had seen, and then had to relay that
information back to your ground control (with realistic
time delay or fog of war) before you got to find out. With
the same mechanism working for your squad mates, except
that you automatically get to access that information.

The final piece of the puzzle is allowing pilots the
option of using an interface to relay information on
contacts they have seen to AI ground control, such that
in coop missions, with more than one squadron on each side,
the AI ground control can be used to relay back information
you told it. For that I'd suggest a simple codified text
format and a channel in the chat that is 'to ground control'.
E.g. Number Nationality Type Alt Heading Speed Distance Vector

With Number being a range, e.g. 5 or 5-15 or Unknown
Type being Bf109, Hurricane, etc (with abbreviations) and
also bomber, fighter, attack for general categories
and so on.

Distance is distance from you, on the specified Vector.

Simple text parsing could do the rest.

When ground control reports, it could report this information back with 'vector XXX' where XX is an
intercept course.

So you might pass on to ground control

10-15 German bomber 5km 90 250 2km 90

Meaning you had spooted 10 to 15 German bombers of unknown
type, at 5,000m altitude, heading east, at about 250kph,
about 2km east of your current position.

Falcon 4 comms would be a good start (love that ATC! It could dynamically reshuffle land priorities!)..

Of course you don't have a radar and not always you have padlock turned on, but a good start nonetheless.

Oh and you'd need more commands for leader/wingmen that are under attack, like "turn left/right" so that you can get into attacker's six.

*This* is an area that badly needs an improvement.. Even if the new commands don't have speech attached to them.

There is only one radio command I would like to see implemented. All other commands can then be thrown out, if the one command works. That command is to my AI team mates and it is:

"GET THE HELL OUT OF MY WAY JACKA$$!!!"

The ability to denote an aircraft that's flyable as a Forward Air controller via the mission builder. Like in QMB now, you have radio control over all four freindly flights plus your own. The switch in mission builder would allow your storch to grab command over attached flights. Something for the future.

I alos feel that radio commands should be improved. Besides a few things already mentioned, I'd like to see:

"AAA stop firing!" and "AAA start firing!"

Yes, agreeing to all suggestions, but :
Add this one : no radio menu at all if your plane has ... no radio. (Most russian built planes meeting this criteria when in operations, at least prior to 44)
