I seem to have developed frame rate "Lag and Pauses" with the 1.2 trial RC01 version. I have never had problems like this with any IL-2 (IL-2 FB) version. My computer is an Athlon 1.2 GHz, 256MB Ram, NVidia GeForce 2 Ultra 64MB, 2 40GB Hard drives connected in Raid 0. I know, it is ready for an up grade.
Is it possible that IL-2 FB RC01 has reached new limits for my computer?
Problems occur over cities, near the ground, and close up to targets. I approached an airfield for a ground attack. The system paused while 1 kilometer from the target, came back on in a burning hanger on the airfield?

Has anyone else had problems?

Is it possible this will improve, or worsen, when the patch is officially released?

There is a stutterer's club now being formed. Membership is eclectic and not based on hardware or graphic card brand. We are an equal opportunity association but we don't really understand our admittance criteria ourselves, so don't ask.

Joking aside, a lot of us are having exactly the same problems on newer systems as well, so don't rush out and upgrade:

P4 2.6 GHZ, 400 MHz FSB, 768 MB RDRAM, ATI 9700, Audigy, Win XP Home

I've tried everything to eliminate the stutters/pauses/lag that I can think of.

Like you, I have never had these problems before in any version of IL2:FB or the original game itself.

For now, all I can say is that it is game related, relatively arbitrary, somehow related to ANISO and AF filtering. Triple Buffering and Force 24 bit Z buffer depth may also be messing things up in OpenGL.

Whenever I think I have the problem solved, the next time I fly it's back again!

I'm now trying DirectX.

Thanks,

But 1) I never changed my memory timing
2) It isn't listed as an option in my BIOS settings (DELL 8200)

Any ideas?

Try the MG sound file ending in "_".

Worked for me on a 1Ghz sys.

Gp

Hello,

I was having similar problems, especially with the Russian campaigns. Sometimes I had three or four second pauses.

Then in FB setup under the Video tab I set Texture Compression to NONE. This helped a lot.

Thanks
