Il-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles introduces you to one of the fiercest aerial battles in World War 2. Between June 1941 and May 1945 the air forces of Germany, Hungary, Finland and USSR fought in the sky for domination.....

Discover the war on the Eastern Front with the most accurate flight simulation ever created!......

At no stage do the words Spitfire, P-38, Chance-Vought Corsiar or - may God forgive me - Westland Whirlwind appear in this text.

It does however mention the 'vibrant online community at www.il2sturmovik.com (http://www.il2sturmovik.com) and get the latest news and information, download the newest updates, and talk on the forums.'

Perhaps it should have said 'Your favourite plane not in game? Whine away on our forums long and loud enough and we'll put it in for you....within days!'

Yes, I'd love to a Whirlwind done to FB standards (or a Spit for that matter), but I appreciate what I was letting myself in for when I read the box and bought the game. I further appreciate the hard work that went into this game to make it stand head and shoulders above the nearest competition.

For me at least Il2-FB 'does exactly what it says on the tin' and I trust that my sig is taken with the humour that was intended.

There are too many posts here that remind me of a customer taking a Led Zeppelin cd back to the shop because they like James Last. Lighten up guys, and appreciate what we've got, and that the developers here are prepared to listen.

There, rant over - I feel better now.

Carry on chaps.

Hey. I think FB`s great. But the Spit DID feature in the Russian theatre. I`d like it, I WANT it. Every now and then I put a post up about the Spit on ORR. I don`t think he notices it, or is even aware that a SeaFire (the plane or myself) exist. But I make a big point of NOT insulting Oleg or being unappreciative.

I simply don`t want him to forget the Beautiful plane of Britain. Perhaps in the add-on pack he`ll put it in. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif LOL

I agree wholeheartedly.

I do support those that request for their favourite plane to be added in a polite manner, not "I WANNA SPITFIRE AND I WANT IT NOW!!!"

Although it would be nice to fly a Spit in FB /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The FB box says
"IL2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles WWII 1941-1945."
"The standalone sequel to the award-winning IL2 Sturmovik, Forgotten Battles features World War II's most feared and revered fighter planes, including the German Stuka and American P-47."

Why not add to the list of "feared and revered fighter planes."

It doesn't say "only eastern front" anywhere on the box.

Surely if Oleg was to model a Ford Mustang it should be the "69 model with the 429 BOSS motor http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well of all the simulators I've played IL2 FB has the most aircraft of any of them. Also they're the best representations of WWII aircraft I've ever seen.
If I posted the text on how to dive bomb in a real Stuka (which I found on the net). You could follow the same procedure to the letter in FB.
Also the way it's done you can't just say it has the BF-109, and FW-190. As every model varies in cockpit, performance, and if you look as you select through them. Many has subtle differences in modelling. In both the little things, shape, and size.
In fact funny I remember how I found out about the game. I had watched a documentary on the IL2 Sturmovick. How it came to be, and what it was.
So I popped online and did a search as I had thought about scratch building one as an R/C airplane. Low and behold I found few links to IL2 Sturmovick info. Instead I found all these darn video game pages! lol
Then I found this forum, and read that FB was soon to come out. Rather than buying IL2 I waited for FB.
Plus the western front has been covered over and over again so has the pacific. I like all airplanes, but especially Russian, and German airplanes of WWII.
The German planes were high tech for their day but quirky. Their biggest downfall in general was they were all muti-tasked.
For example a dirt bike is a great off road motorcycle. A street bike is a great on road vehicle. An Enduro however is neither a good dirt bike, or a good street bike.

Asking if Oleg will ever put ones favorite plane in the game is not whining. People who have purchased and played IL-2 know that Oleg and his team likes to release add-ons that have planes which were not originaly in the game. And also by puting planes in the game as AI only is surely going to have the question ask.(Will this plane ever be flyable?) Like why even bother to put the P-51 in the game at all if you dont want feed back from the community. Oleg is the one that said he is and will accept planes from 3rd party modelers. So this is the direction he chooses to take the series. Sounds to me that the author is whining because FB is not what he intended it to be. Im willing to bet that more people who play this game will disagree with you rather then agree. And Oleg can always just say NO. Maybe he should consult with you before he says yes to anyother ideas.

And I want to spit fire too, or whatever it was that one guy was asking.

Also I would like Christina Aquilera to stop "singing", but I realize you just can't get everything...
