Hi Assassins,

I have discovered that there are much more moves than were explained in the game, and I hope some of the moves I show in the videos are new to you too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Until now it is only about doing acrobatics, the next parts will be about fighting. But that will take a few more days http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Here they are:
Asssassin's Creed: Special Moves Part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVcgcaOCwp4)
Asssassin's Creed: Special Moves Part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jConUNpMacM)
Asssassin's Creed: Special Moves Part 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLajQOt2cAU)

I appreciate any kind of (constructive) feedback. Should the videos be below your skill, don't waste time on watching them and posting negative comments http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

May the force be with you … eh no, I mean … you know. Safety and peace, brothers http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

well done! thx for subbing. i have done likewise. as a personal preference, i like seeing descriptive text and the video at the same time. i tend to use youtube annotations, but subtitled text or similar in the video also works well.

if you havent already, you should see this vid before you do your next series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkR1NrtRTw8

consider subbing to stabguy as well. i look forward to seeing more from you.

Thanks for you reply and for subscribing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I've chosen the text and video clips because my videos are often rather short, and I cannot read and watch a video at the same time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif it would become too hectic then. And when I do it just in kdenlive (my video editing program), I can hand the video on to anyone as simple avi and the text is still there, unlike when I'm using the youtube annotations. But that is just my POV http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You and stabguy really have nice videos. I just wonder how it is possible to assassinate someone while Altair is that fare above ground? Just clicking attack won't work. Do you have to jump first and just when he touches the ground press attack? And how do you manage that Altair is jumping in the proper direction?

About my videos, did I forget a useful move?

tnx

yes, you have to jump and then press attack as you come to the ground.

you can manage the jumping direction in many ways, some are more robust than others.
-if you hang off a surface or ladder, your default jump direction (by leaving the left stick in the center position) will be directly away from the surface, which is very reproducible. the video in my signature is called "the bleeding effect." i use this technique at 1:00 in that vid, due to the very precise requirements for that jump. it is also used in the second leap of the majd stunt at 3:18.

-you can use your left stick to control the direction of the leap as well, but you have to be careful on how you aim it. stabguy uses this on his stunt on sibrand, and it is used on the second leap at 2:56 in bleeding effect.

-you can precisely control your run off a surface. this is what i do at 1:20 and the first leap at 2:55 in bleeding effect.

-you can precisely control an early leap off a surface (start the jump before you reach the edge). i use this at the first leap at 3:15 and 3:50 in bleeding effect.

>did I forget a useful move
i havent been over the vids exhaustively, but i can review them with an eye on completeness. i dont know if youve covered it, but one of my fav moves is in this vid at 1:35

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-T1lugpXbo#t=1m35s

in your vids, you do have a small oversight in part 3 at 3:25. you run up a wall to leap over a guard post. you can walk around that guard post - a leap is not necessary. see 2:50 of this vid:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54K0woVDSEE#t=2m50s

in fact, that maneuver does not ordinarily work on guard posts unless you start at a higher elevation than their standing level - thus your example in the vid is a bit misleading because it suggests that it can be used elsewhere. 4:15 of the vid above would be a more appropriate example. in this case, the stairs give altair a higher starting elevation.

pls dont let this minor feedback distract from the nice job you have done. as i said, i sincerely look forward to seeing more from you.

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I really appreciate that.

When watching your videos, I always think that if I ever saw a master assassin then it is you http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif How are you capturing? Is there an included mechanism in the PS? (I'm using a slow PC atm, framerate below 28, and when capturing even lower)

The move is very nice, I will include it in the next part (should I find time for it). About the guards, I've added an annotation, I really thought that would work everywhere but it really doesn't do usually.

Your Hidden Blade stunts are just cool. You pressed shift in Acre, didn't you?

Is it right that Altaïr's jumps are always the same? He can't jump shorter, can he? I tried to kill a guard mobbing a civilian, but Altaïr jumped 2 m too far.

Choosing the direction works here too (PC), depending on the WASD keys and the camera position. Accurate too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

thanks

>I always think that if I ever saw a master assassin then it is you
Hey thx! thats a REALLY nice thing to say. there are lots of good players out there who specialize in different things. im especially good at assassinations and general stealth, but there are others who are far better at general fighting (not just hidden blade).

>How are you capturing?
i use a dvd recorder, then i rip the dvd to pc.

>Is there an included mechanism in the PS?
i vaguely recall many months ago a mention that ps3 may later include a video capture function, but i havent heard anything since then.

>Is it right that Altaïr's jumps are always the same?
good question! his jump distance is usually the same. however, if he becomes injured (from battle or falling), the jump distance is sometimes reduced.

>Choosing the direction works here too (PC)
thats a very important consideration. the direction on console versions of ac is controlled by the left analog stick, so it is quite difficult to control the exact direction. its easy to be a few degrees off from your intent. many stunt assassinations may be easier to execute on PC due to the precision of WASD vs analog stick.

one of the best sites for ac gameplay information is forums.assassinscreed-maps.com. you sound like someone who would be interested in what they have to offer. a lot of very high quality information is documented there, and many of your questions would fit perfectly in that environment. consider joining us sometime?

DVD recorder … very smart. No loss of fps at all. Cannot claim that here. Btw, the squares indicating the target are very helpful!

I didn't have time yet (read: didn't feel like yet) to test «flying» assassinations, because of Mirror's Edge and my bows (had to finish an English Longbow), and because it didn't work so many times I've tried before. Therefore now two more questions about that: Do you need to focus the target? Do you press [Attack] before you touch the ground, or shortly afterwards?

Analog stick vs. WASD: You're right, especially if it is me who is using the gamepad (is it called, isn't it?), there are always hurt persons (ingame), most of the time it is me. But your PS3 videos look much smoother because you cannot move the cam that abruptly as it is possible with a mouse.

I took a look at the forum at assassinscreed-maps.com, I'll read some threads there now and register if/when I feel like http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I got a new trick for you.

Take those markets, with the big things wooden balks above. Take place where you got 3-4 of those balks, sprint/jump over them. Fluence. It is easy, right?

Now, got back to the first balk, and sprint + jump, when you touch the second balk, Keep jumping (fluence) but also press the free hand buttom. At the next balk you'll see he hops over it and hangs there. Try it out, can't make a movie because it gives a bug with AC.

>Do you need to focus the target?
no, although in crowded places locking on will help ensure you kill the right person.

>Do you press [Attack] before you touch the ground, or shortly afterwards?
timing isnt critical at all. you can just mash the attack button as you land.

Thanks sensationikke! It took me a while to figure out how exactly it works: Shift has to be pressed when or before Altaïr is jumping. It sometimes also makes him not jumping as far as he can but only to the next edge/border/whatever it is called.

@IanXO4: Okay, gonna try http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Now I've got a new PC here -> better FPS and better graphics.

that maneuver allows you to immediately drop to hanging once you land on a high beam. this saves you some time if you need to get down. i found the maneuver more useful jumping from lower beams to crates. altair slides off the crate and lands with feet on the ground. looks neat and saves time. lemme know if you want to see a short vid of this.
