Reminder for anyone in the area this weekend..

the Thunderbirds are flying there this year - not the Blue Angels...they had a previous engagement.

Always a great place to get close to the warbirds - and I've never seen the T-Birds in person before, should be good.

They always seem to be a very flat display, close and all that, but a lot of flat passes IMHO, unlike some of the teams that do a more 3D display routine.

I believe the Thunderbirds have upgraded to the F-22 this year from the -16.
Can anyone confirm?

I got to see them 2 years ago. Hell of a show.
Saw the Snowbirds this year & the Angels 4 times in the last 5 or 6 years. Would really like to see them in the new ride, so take LOTS of pictures.

The T-Birds were still in the F-16 at the Gathering of Mustangs and Legends Sept. 27-30.

well - it was a 15 a 16 and a 51 ....and I don't have a camera...

the F-22 flew solo for about 10 minutes...

Today - Friday - the T-birds flew directly overhead at about 250 feet - they were pushing vapor and flying a nice tight formation.

the solo also went over in full afterburn a couple of times - I think it was better than being at the show because there, you are not directly underneath the planes flight path (and I think these guys were lower away from the show centerline) so you are not as close as we were...also I think the solo's sometimes have to light the cans to get back in formation in time for the grandstand passes...whew!
