View Full Version : Having a Take-Off Problem in AGM2-21

I'm having a problem in the IJN campaign flying the AGM2-21. I set flaps to take-off go to full throttle (believe 106%), pull chocks and run down the carrier, then after lifting the landing gear and starting to pull up, also raising flaps from take-off to combat, my wings fall apart?? Going through the same sequence in a single mission rather than a campaign, gives me no problem --- the wings stay-on the plane and I'm up and going?

What's the problem when in campaign mode???

A6M2-21 you mean http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I haven't seen this happen at all. The wings fall off? Thats very odd...what happens when you don't use flaps at all? You should be able to get off the deck with a Zero without flaps (I think).

Throttle up slowly to 110%, open the rads until your throttled up, close them, give it a second, and then release chocks.

See what happens.

Thats never happened to me. I have a hell of a time landing the thing. I had 5 bolters before I figured out that I have to yank back on the stick real hard to set that short hook.

That's a weird problem. Like Icefire said, try without flaps you should be fine.

Crash, you dont need to yank back hard, just need to make a nice 3-point landing.

Well I tried it with no flaps with the same result when in the start of my IJN career leaving from a carrier to attack Pear Harbor. With or without flaps the wings tear apart. I'm flying a a wingman for my commander, there are a total of three planes, (A6M2-21s) taking off. I can tell the other two planes have their flaps exended (can't tell if it's combat or take-off); they have no problem getting up and away. Me, the wings tear apart????

Flying the same plane in a single mission gives me no problem, I can take-off the carrier like an Ace, however when starting an IJN campaign, on my first flight on Dec. 7th to attack Pearl Harbor--- the wings tear-off. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I'm flying Ver.3.01m of FB/AEP/PF.

I haven't flown the Pearl Harbor mission in the Zero, perhaps if you engage the Autopilot and let him take off, then just take over for the rest of the flight? It sounds like a weird problem.

You sure you're not hitting the superstructure with a wingtip?

Guys it's happening on my first mission which is attacking Pearl Harbor, the first one in the IJN campaign flying an A6M2-21. I fly off the carrier, lift my landing gear at 110% power, and start to gain some altitude. As soon as I'm off the carrier, I drop down slighly below the deck level but above water level, I'm starting to slowly rise, lift my landing gear, fly a little more, rising slighly, and then my wings tear-off at mid-wing on both sides???

you do unfold your wings 1st before takeoff http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Guys, I got it, Daytraders was right, I didn't unfold my wing-tips on the A6M2-21. I didn't notice that the tips of the Zero's wing are folded in the Campaign. The wing-tips are already extended in the single mission. The wing-fold on the A6G2-21 is just the tip, rather than a sizeable wingfold on the Corsair.

No problem getting up & away now. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
