im sure you all know this has a huge effect in the game, allowing you to climb anything, jump from great heights etc. But i thought id share with you all the actual origins of altairs skills.
A while back, the BBC showed a show about a new urban sport known as parkour in which some french dudes did some crazy stuff in famous london sites. (the link below has some pics)
I especially like the close link between assassins creed's ideas of illusion and parkours feeling of "Human art form".
This was one of the reasons that AC excited me so much http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif

Anyway, check out the sites, go find some rooftops and pretend to be altair.(but please, leave out the murder http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif )

those french dudes didnt invent it, they just turned it into a fun activity. you cant call climbing walls and jumping off roofs someones invention.

@theevileye1919: did you think of climbing the wall in the first place? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

PK was invented by the French, its not just random leaping around like some mad man, its the ablity to move freely over objects in ways the french made (different types of volts ect)
different ways of PK have been invented by the french, PK is short for Parkour, which is Free Running in french. theres lots more to PK than meets the eye...just like an assassin http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Having PK in Assassins Creed is totaly awsome, finaly an arobic Assassin, using all sorts of PK to escape. scaling walls and all sorts of stuff like real PK'ers do, will be awsome, deffinatly looking forward to PK and Murder in the same game http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

"Share the actual origins"...? The lead dude of AC already said himself that Parkour inspired him. :/

Altair's skill is pretty much Parkour stuff, so... maybe he means the origins of parkour.

The french didnt invent it. Altair did, and the french stole it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

That is what I'm saying. But it doesn't need to be confirmed by a fan, since some developper already said it. That's what I said.

I mean the origins of parkour, not the origins of how it came to be used in AC.

first video is a promo for david belle, founder of parkour, second is a clip from his movie, district b13, that came out in america a few weeks ago.

i started a thread like this on the pop forum but it died, i tried to recruit as many people as i could in parkour. it is the greatest sport one can practice.

I'm a traceur from South Africa... I can't wait for this game and PS3... The fact that Parkour is in the game will make it so much more realistic with respect to Altairs movements... Can't wait...

This vid is Tony Jaa, escaping from a big group of men through the back allys. this is what i can emagine Altiar doing...well not the awsome fighting at the end http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif, you can see the video here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mo29u8rhoSo)

(P.S the video is Ong Bak, all the stunts were preformed with no wires or effects and all by Tony http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

parkour is all about efficiency and not eye candy. tricks are not needed.

YA! That's the way! Sefrica (South Africa) FTW!! Anyway this looks really cool. Running up walls and doing fancy acrobatic things that I can't even name.... yeah! too cool for words!

I do Parkour, and I really hope that this game doesn't give the wrong impressions about it.

Parkour and Free-Running are different things and I hope the game doesn't confuse the two.

For instance, Flips and aerial's are not parkour.

Listen to RuneJoker, Parkour and Free Running are different things, to keep it short:

Parkour = Getting from A-B as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Free Running = Getting from A-B as stylish as possible, ie. doing tricks and backflips and all that.

I personally thought that games using flips and stuff seemed kinda cheesy. I'd like to see something where, if you stepped on a weather worn stone or something, you may lose your footing a bit.

steerepike, they said that their aim is to make it as realistic as possible. that's the first reason of why I'm keeping an eye on this game.

ENOUGH with the arcade bull**** and the unneeded stuff.

altair's goal, isn't to impress women (or men for that matter :P), but to get the job done (that's the whole point of parkour with its techniques and the improvisations of the parkour practitioner).
