Here is the full text of Hitler's Last Will*:

As I did not consider that I could take responsibility, during the years of struggle, of contracting a marriage, I have now decided, before the closing of my earthly career, to take as my wife that girl who, after many years of faithful friendship, entered, of her own free will, the practically besieged town in order to share her destiny with me. At her own desire she goes as my wife with me into death. It will compensate us for what we both lost through my work in the service of my people.

"I myself and my wife - in order to escape the disgrace of deposition or capitulation - choose death."
Adolf Hitler
What I possess belongs - in so far as it has any value - to the Party. Should this no longer exist, to the State; should the State also be destroyed, no further decision of mine is necessary.

My pictures, in the collections which I have bought in the course of years, have never been collected for private purposes, but only for the extension of a gallery in my home town of Linz on Donau.

It is my most sincere wish that this bequest may be duly executed.

I nominate as my Executor my most faithful Party comrade,

Martin Bormann

He is given full legal authority to make all decisions. He is permitted to take out everything that has a sentimental value or is necessary for the maintenance of a modest simple life, for my brothers and sisters, also above all for the mother of my wife and my faithful co-workers who are well known to him, principally my old Secretaries Frau Winter etc. who have for many years aided me by their work.

I myself and my wife - in order to escape the disgrace of deposition or capitulation - choose death. It is our wish to be burnt immediately on the spot where I have carried out the greatest part of my daily work in the course of a twelve years' service to my people.

Given in Berlin, 29th April 1945, 4:00 a.m.
[Signed]A. Hitler

I recall that Traudl Junge, the secretary to whom this was dictated, said later that she was astonished that Hitler made no profound statements in his will, gave no apologies to the German people and no explanations.
It is a remarkably trite document.

Who are Hitler's brothers and sisters or relatives in general? You never hear anything about his current family members. I'd think they'd probably be pretty ostracized. Are they in hiding out of embarassment? Anyone know?/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

AFAIK Hitler was an only son, and both his parents were dead already.
But if I was a Hitler, after all the holocaust exposure and stuff, I would certainly change my name /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The two sons of Patrick Hitler live in the USA where Patrick settled under an assumed name. Historian John Toland interviewed them about their father for his biography of Hitler which he wrote in the 'seventies.

Patrick was, IIRC, Hitler's nephew. He came to prominence when he tried to make money out of his family association with Hitler in the 1930s. Hitler was at that time treated like a god in Germany and Patrick- then in his twenties- sold stories to the Press about his tenuous relationship with him- but in fact they hardly knew each other. Hitler eventually demanded through a lawyer that Patrick cease his activities in Germany- which he thought would sully his family name (!)- and leave the country for an undisclosed sum. Patrick agreed, realising that he had overplayed his hand and that Hitler would not publicly acknowledge him.
He emigrated to the States and completely changed allegiance- working with the American authorities to undermine Hitler's position throughout the war. By 1946 he was a forgotten man and no- one wanted the name Hitler so he changed it.
Toland knows the new family name but will not reveal it- living relatives asked him not to.

So if you live in the States you may have shaken hands with the man who shook hands with the man who shook hands with Hitler. (I think)

I never loved Eva Braun - Oh no?
A thousand people said I did. Oh yeah?
She was just some girl who was on the make. Oh yeah?
Boy she wanted to be so big.
In the end it got to be a drag.
Doing her exercises every day.
No matter what people say,
I never loved Eva Braun.

She wasn't part of the dream. Oh no?
Of maps and generals and uniforms. Yes we see.
Yeah I invaded all those countries,
But they were weak and I was strong.
I always wanted to be adored.
No matter what people say,
I never loved Eva Braun.

Eva Braun wasn't history. wasn't even part of my destiny, never really fitted in the scheme of things,
She was a triumph of my will, oh yeah!

Very interesting post. I've never seen this. I didn't even know he had a will. I find his last statement especially disgusting/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif In it he states he wants to be burned on the spot where quote "I have carried out the greatest part of my daily work in the course of a twelve years service to my people".

In the Service to his people? What a sick joke/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif What a great disservice he did for the Germans/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif In the end he was angry and disgusted with the German people he supposedly served so well, because they failed him and lost the war. It didn't matter to him that most of the country was on the verge of obliteration and millions had died for his cause. They had failed him and lost the war, and after all he had done for them. Rest in Hell!

Well said. Everyone would have been better off without him. However there is a strange irony that goes with Uncle Joe. Now to be clear, I am in no way justifying anything this demon did. However, ironically had it not been for Stalin's ruthless policies in the twenties and thirties of forced industrialization in which millions died or were displaced, the Soviet Union may not have been able to withstand the German onslaught. By forcing the country into the 20th century and building up it's industries to match that of the west, he may just have saved the Soviets from German domination. Otherwise they would never have been able to mass produce all those excellent T-34's and IL-2's. Strange twist of fate.

Ah, I beg to differ. I'm not here for Hitler. I'm here for the best flight sim. I'd rather prefer not to spend my leisure time with replaying those dark hours of history that cost the lives of millions of people and saw millions in slavery.

I'd still be here if Oleg had published "Forgotten Battles: Wonderland vs. Elbonia". In that case we also wouldn't have so much trouble with the so called "realism" of flight models. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif You know, the engineers from Wonderland modified all those aircraft they bought from Germany, the engineers from Elbonia modified the aircraft they bought from Russia. And now they fly like they do in Il2FB. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Actually, I believe Lixmar is Correct.

Without Hitler, The Whole world now would have been Hugely Overpopulated. Even back then, There was a prediction that The world was already overpopulated, and In 20 years time there wouldn't bee any food left to eat. If Hitler hadnt of stepped in and started WWII, The need for Mass studies of technology wouldnt have been needed, there fore the agriculture industry wouldnt have upgraded, to a Point where it can sustain itself. Our Economy (of the Capitalist World) is based on the military, Based on WAR.
Its Human Instinct. Its because of WWII that the Countries that now Are powerful are powerful because of the War. Like America. And Britain. (im an Aussie so Im being Humble about my Country, Besides, Were weak. 72 F/A 18 Hornet Jets, to cover the Country....WEAK)

But heck, Hitler is still a Dungbag.
And Stalin was just as bad. he killed 200,000 Of his own civilian Ppl.

I rest my Case

I Agree without hitler i know i wouldnt be here, my gradfather came out from Hungary (to Oz) during & because of the war.

not justifying hitler (im mad, not stoopid) but i think old stalin may of disposed of a few more than 200,000 of his own ppl as well as jews and poles

It wasn't Stalin who did all this. Stalin killed the cream ofthe crop of Russian Military leaving Soviet Union without good army leaders. He aslo killed alot of talented engeneers and scientists. The chief engeneer who developed the legendary T 34 was died in prison.
Industrialization and technological advances in 20-30 were not Stalin's merits by any means.
