Updated graphics on a 3 year old engine. No online play. From the trailer it looks like arcade fms.

if it is under 30 i will buy it for cheap thrills. the ground gfx and damge/explosions are nice, but planes a bit old lookin. The fact its not online is huge, stupid mistake really. Ill probjust test the campaigns and muck around with it in between il2. The formations really impressed me on this game though. Much better than il2 formations.

I agree that no online play is the pits.... but it might come later on. I do know MP will be in B17 "The Legend Returns". Supposedly you will also be able to fly the fighters of both sides in MP also. Not sure yet on the variety of fighters tho.

BTW.... you can fly the fighters in Shockwave's BoB 2 full real. So that rules out an arcade sim.

Are you sure that's a real flight sim forum? It appears the developers are chatting with the public and there's no "gimmee gimmee" or "this sux." http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Online content a game does not make.

I know that the trend is more and more towards the online side of things, but I am intrigued by the possibilities that this game deliveres. A really good single player campaign mode and a well though out representation og the Battle of Britain would keep me highly entratained. I fly sims because I love WW2 aviation, not to shoot down other players.

Personally, I'll with hold my judgment on it until I have seen it running, got some feedback and played a demo (if one becomes available). What I have seen so far doesn't look as good as IL2 but graphics were never the most important thing to simmers anyway.

Old_Canuck, amazing isn't it. No whining or crying. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Just questions answers and what we'd like to see ingame.

ImpStarDuece, from what I've seen so far I'm very impressed. Tho I'm sworn to secrecy for now. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I've been watching and waiting for this sim for some time. Some of the screenshots are quite nice. They say they haven't got the time, people, or approval from GMX to post more. I can understand this and its probably not a smoke screen. Hopefully the final product will be a nice surprise for the combat flight sim community.

Well if the Readme`s to be believed this game sounds incredible. Who cares if the graphic engine may be a little old? Also, imho offline FULL single-player with good AI, dynamic campaign, weather etc, etc experience comes first. THEN you work on the multiplayer online aspects, this way, you get a full rounded sim, with everything fleshed out.

I`ll definitely have a look at this.

Another good thing is competition like this will kepp Oleg striving to be even better.

A win/win situation for the player/pilot I think.

the dynamic campaign sounded so good I couldn't help myeself. I've pre ordered at play.com for 17.99
After all how many pre-jet combat sims are we likely to see, it's not like the FPS scene!

They send screenshots out to 3dGamers and similar sites, but rarely tell anyone about it.

Strange PR!!!

Offline play is a smart move unless ShockWave can make Pay~Play work. As ShockWave has an extremely detailed and (apparently) working Offline campaign, the only way Online can help is if ShockWave goes Pay~Play (assuming a good Offline campaign exists, and it seems to). If not, then the Offline sales must fund Online development costs used by an insignificant number of buyers. There is another possibility: the small Online market could offer a marketing method for ShockWave, as the Online play population, insignificant in pure numbers, does talk alot on the internet. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I have been waiting for this thing - dynamic weather, clickable cockpits, fuel tank switching, AI cannot see thru clouds, immersive campaign. If it delivers what it promises plus a good FM and DM, it could set a new standard.

Looking forward to this and the new F4.

Would love to see some cockpit screen shots.

The one I did see was a render of a 109 from way back when.

They say the cockpits are excellent but it looks like we won't know for sure until the game is released.

X-ac-ta-men-te! My words man.

These planes are _the_ zenith of combustion engine technology, so everyone into, say, motor sports should naturally love them IMO - even if they're good-for-nothing lefty muhfuhn libbies & thus NOT perforating the poor buggers with hot lead at all http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

And if not, they really don't know and/or understand what they're missing!

(& yeah, I think I'll get Shockwave's BOB2 just to see what all this bloody racket's about...)

I've played the v0.99 version of BDG's BoB which is what GMX's version is using as a base.

The campaign is fantastic (typical Rowan) and you can leave the flying alone and play it as a wargame if you feel like it. It's similar in this respect to Rome TW etc.

As for the flying, even without the new graphics the feeling of 'being there' is incredible. You get a good sense of height and the buzz you get when the two sides meet mid-air and all hell breaks lose seems faithful to the accounts of the battle. One second it's a swirling mass of metal...the next it's deathly quiet. And then a Spitfire bounces you.

If anyone wants an idea of what GMX's BoB will be like, just buy a copy of Rowan's release (it's dirt cheap) and patch it up with the BDG's v0.99 patch. If you like it then you'll like WOV, if not you've only lost a few quid.
