Two questions:
What is the magic key to make the GM-1 turn on in the Bf-109E-7/Z, the W key does not work.

And what is the chance we will see a Bf-109F-2/Z?

None because it was never produced, only F-4/Z were.

The E-7/Z GM-1 will be fixed with the patch, as currently it doesn't work at all.

Thanks!

and that brings these questions:
What is the chance we will see a Bf-109F-4/Z?

And will the Bf-109F-4 be given the ability to carry bombs, droptanks, and 20mm gunpods?

I asked for those and i hope they will make it into the patch.

For the F-4/Z, i'll see with Oleg if he can add it.

Butch, if you are on a direct line with Oleg, notify him of the machine guns issue I posted to the 'P-47 guns "too weak"' -thread.

My post handles the difference between the damages caused by allied and german machine guns. The german ones, though having a higher caliber, cause significantly lower damage than the allied ones. I have tested this and will post a track if requested. Also, I did use the slowest time frame while shooting to lower the chance of missing.

Here are the tracks for the MG differences I posted earlier:

http://www.tpu.fi/~t1akeski/F2-MG.trk
http://www.tpu.fi/~t1akeski/HurriMk2-MG.trk
http://www.tpu.fi/~t1akeski/P47-MG.trk
http://www.tpu.fi/~t1akeski/Yak1-MG.trk

I know I'm a crappy shooter with BF-109 MGs. If someone can do that better, feel free to post a track with greater hit accuracy. However, I can't be a crappy shooter always, mostly due to the results gained with other planes...

Remember, I shot only with MGs.

Someone posted a link on this thread earlier, that has a comparison of the power between the weapons. This chart, if I remember correctly, shows that the MG15 should have a higher damage delivery than some allied MGs. In Forgotten Battles, this is not the case..

HEY! I actually got Oleg to reply, wow.

So were only gonna have GM-1 on the 109E-7/Z eh? OK, I can live with that. So much for the 109G-2 with boost.

One last question to Oleg and anybody:

Can we get a Bf-109G-2 with the Galland Hood/Erla Haube as seen on the G-6Late?

XyZspineZyX
06-20-2003, 11:40 AM
Hmm I don't think that the Bf109G2 ever had the Erla Haube and/or the Galland Armour. Maybe some of them were retrofitted at the end of the war but the first production models surely did not have that yet.

About the GM-1 boost: As the 109G2 is my favourite WWII plane I would also be grateful if Oleg could implement the G2 version with GM-1 boost. I know it was never used on the Eastern Front but hey why not have it!? It would be a great performance boost for high altitude fights...

***Bump!***

Yes, I think that we should get the following added:

"Bf-109G2 FieldMod"
This would be the stock G2 with the Galland Hood and Erla Haube fitted. It would be marked as a 1943 aircraft, as that is the year when the new canopy first arrived.

"Bf-109G2/Z"
The Bf-109G2 with GM-1, it would have the stock canopy. Mark it as whatever year the real one came in.

and-

"Bf-109G2/Z FieldMod"
The Bf-109G2 with GM-1 and the ErlaHaube and Galland Hood. This one gets marked as 1945, as we are assumeing it is an old G2/Z repaired to be used to defend Berlin. Maybe we even list a Mk-108 nose gun as an option? LOL, probably not.

You would most likely see me in the last one http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Here's a few more questions:
Was MW-50 ever used on G2's?
Were Mk-108's ever fitted in G2's?

XyZspineZyX
06-20-2003, 03:16 PM
AFAIK no G-2 was modified with Erlahaube, Mk 108 or any of the other things you want. By the time these things were common, G-2s were used at flying schools or given to allies like Finns, Hungarians or Rumanians. Also you could not install the Mk 108 in a plane. It had to be fitted with it on manufacture.
A G-2/Z existed, however, but it was not common.
Why are you so crazy for the G-2?
Give the G-6 a try! it has really improved in FB

Why are you so crazy about the G-6? The G-2 is faster and it turns better. If I wanted to fly a G-6 i'd go for the /AS. Better yet, why not a G-10 or K-4?

We have plenty of speed and big-gun 109's, I want to see a G-2/Z with Galland Hood and Erla Haube so we have a plane for pilots who use skill to get kills.

A G-2/Z with the Galland Hood and Erla Haube would be the perfect dogfighting 109. Enough boost to stay competative at high altitude, and exelent turn performance.

Sorry VOL-Jon but the Erla Haube and Galland Hood/Armour was NEVER ever mounted on a G2 as Anteater and me already said.
The same applies to the Mk108 - the first 109version which was equipped with this gun was the late G6 model.

However the G2 with GM-1 did exist and I think it would be an interesting addition. I currently fly the Bf109G2 about 90% of the time in FB and it just rocks /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

@Anteater: I think the same way as Jon about the G2. It first of all is available earlier than the G6 (1942 vs 1943) and just flies and looks better. Those buldges are just very ugly.

hehe, got that right!

Maube we could get the stock 109G2/Z in the game, and then get one with the Galland Hood and Erla Haube as a late war feild mod? One put together from some spare parts?

"Bf-109G2/Z F-Mod 1945"

For it's description put in "Bf-109G2/Z with a Galland Hood and Erla Haube installed. This plane represents a modification made by groundcrews with some spare time, and a G-14 with a broken engine."

I can live without the Mk-108, you would need to do some major work on the [real] plane, and I think the Mg-17 ammo magazines are in the way. But atleast gimme the GM-1 and canopy!!! Please? Too bad I can't just make it myself...

But we would all drop dead if the Germans got a feild mod plane.

I'd also like F-4/Z or Gs with GM-1. But this would need new cockpits and slightly different FMs (that GM-1 thingy is heavy). Nevertheless, when we get the Ta-152H, we'll have a late war GM-1 plane (+MW-50 /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif ).

About 200, to be more exact. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Hey, even I admit the He 162 barely saw combat and had zero effect on the air war, but at least there is concrete proof that it (along with the various MiG-3 and IL-2 field mods) DID fly during the war. But all this talk about modding the 109 G-2? It's nonsense and silliness. You want a "modded" G-2? It's called the G-10 and K-4. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

don't turn a 109!

btw..a g2 with GM-1 would be an G1 in "high alt"
modification. means gm1+pressurized cockpit+
weight lifted...could have been one of the best
power to weight ratio built 109 ever.

I fail to understand why we can have an IL-2 that had a gunner position added by mechanics in this game, yet we can not have a 109 with a differnt canopy or differnt armor.
