Yes thats me ,over in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow
of Chernobyl community http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I made this pic with my cellphone (too long to explain what was joke behind this) a while ago and thought it would fit great as avatar in these forums http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

How did you came there ? With google ?

Hey Celeon,

Where did you get the British armed forces standard issue S10 respirator from? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

A few years ago, the company Celeon is working for had the job to install some new network connections at Berlin Chemie, thats a chemical company that produces medical drugs.

The network cables were supposed to go through a attic of one of their production halls there.

Problem was that the attic was covered in chemical dust from the recent production years.

I wild mixture of different medicine in form of thin dust.

I came to the conclusion that a normal respirator like you can buy in homecenters is not safe enough for this job so i buyed that gasmask on ebay. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Who the hell knows how dangerous this dust really might be? And how it might affect the skin or even be resorpted by it ?

It struck me "Celeon needs at least a NATO filter to be on the safe side !"

So ive buyed the mask on ebay and a airtight protective suit aswell as gloves and some tape in a homecenter and voila ! My own NBC proof protection suit. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Silent_O will tell me now that it is not called NBC anymore but ....... i cant remember it... what was it ? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Celeon likes the mask. It gives you a very good field of view with these huge glasses, it is comfortable and this drinking adapter is worth gold when you have the necessary water bottle for it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Especially when you crawl through a dangerous drug covered attic in the hot summer ! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

That was a good choice of respirator http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

The S10 is said to be the best respirator in the world. That's probably why the UN inspection teams use British NBC kit. Although it's a fairly old design it is still used and gives you very good visibility, mind you it takes ages (about 25 minutes) to drink 1 litre of water through the straw.

The drinking straw fits a special adapter on the standard issue water bottles, this seal is NBC proof. There is an alternative method to using the straw - but in a Bio or Chemical hazard area my Resi stays on and to hell with the emergancy alternative methods!

I did an exercise in Egypt about 5 years ago and the temperature was 100 degrees F, I was in full NBC kit with the lovely charcoal lining inside plus my uniform on underneath - and I was having one serious sweat attack. As soon as I had finished drinking 1 bottle I needed another!!

There is also a export version of the S10 around that has a net instead of those rubber straps. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Not so painful because you dont rip yourself some hairs out anymore.

But one thing is strange , ive read that the S10 has a removable speaking membrane so that you can attach a second filter instead of it.

My membrane is not removable.... there is no screwing because its a part of the mask itself ... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

Maybe a early version that didnt had that feature yet ?

Not google, but Answers.comDictionaryQuicksearch (http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery?gwp=13&s=%s) . It was one of the choices to choose when setting up Firefox(Good bye Internet Exp., hello Firefox). Your site was first on the list. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Just type in Celeon999, and there you are.

Thats no good http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Just as a note : http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif "Celeon" has nothing to do with "Kaleun" its just a nickname with reference to the sci-fi movie "Moontrap" with Walter Koenig. (Chekov from Star Trek) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Celeon will check out if the mask is also

MASKENSAUFEN proof ! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

CRBNE - Chemical, Radiological, Biological, Nuclear, and Explosive (readiness)

I'm not sure if that is the NATO standard acronym now, but it is what we use in our forces.

CEL, good call on the mask...I'm just wondering why your company did not supply one in the first place...or are you an independant contractor?

08-01-2006, 03:42 AM
We are an independent installation and service company.

We didnt had any respirators at all because we never had to work in such dangerous enviroments before.

First idea was to buy a simple respirator you get in homecenters but Celeon didnt liked this idea http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

I saw the S10 on ebay and buyed it (of course i got the money back from my company) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

They also had plenty of our old M65 Bundeswehr masks on ebay , introduced in 1962 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif (which they STILL use http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif)

But i never liked these. They are very similar to the U.S mask XM-41 Silent_O surely will know. Both masks dont lack of any protection of course but they are not the most comfortable in the world http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I would trade those for my S10 anyday !

They introduce a new one in the Bundeswehr these days, i only found a pic of the civil version called F-2 but its pretty identical to the military version (just has a different filter)

Must be a very good field of view http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Celeon remembers how he was ordered to explain the usage of the "emergency atropine antidote autoinjector" set to a group of young us.army soldiers.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif Celeon was not much older than them at this time http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif (And this horrible instruments give him nightmares)

A lot of http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif and http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif faces ....
And a hard translation job for Celeon http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The_Silent_O to this day still cringes whenever he has to get injected! Thank god for nasal flu vaccines! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

...Actually CEL, it's all your nations's fault http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

when the "O" was just a little "o" he had to get dragged into the Army Medical clinic so he could get overseas immunizations (numerous!) just so he could go to Germany with his family...Kicking and Screaming I tell ya! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif two nurses had to hold me down! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/crackwhip.gif

yes I always wondered about those Atropine injectors... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

...Actually CEL, it's all your nations's fault

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif Somehow i knew that it was our fault again http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Look at paragraph 231 of the "Treaty of Versaille"

There it is written. "Its all germany‚¬īs fault" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Celeon does not like needles too http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

Celeon‚¬īs parents always get these flu shots and try to persuade Celeon to do it too. But.....

No,no,no http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

Still no nasal flu vaccine avaible by Celeon‚¬īs doctor..

And it doesnt bother me how thin the needles are http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

Or think about those injections that the dentist has to offer.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Absolute horror ! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

To these atropine injectors...... Its funny to see the faces when you explain them that Atropine is a powerful nerve poison almost comparable to the stuff some little cute sea creatures have to offer. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

These are the faces : http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/354.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

Its definitly the last option for someone who came in contact with a nerve agent and has no other choice anyway.

It CAN save your life...but its also likely that it might be the last push into the train with destination Valhalla.

Can make your voyage easier so to say http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/crackwhip.gif

I see Blastomatic is full equipped http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
