Did anyone yet complete mission 3 in Burning streak? I can't taxi the I-250, it has a mind of its own.

Any suggestions?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I think there's a strong wind causing the plane to drift to one side, I used an additional 360 turn in the direction of torque to get past the fence.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Easiest way to take off for me was to taxi through the gate in the fence directly ahead, then engage the jet and TO from the field outside.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Actually everybody talks about aerial combat. I maintain that hitting ground targets, and especially ships is more dangerous than aerial combat. - Joe Foss

I did exactly that. Taxied through the gate and took off across the field. I swear I could hear those Russian Guards shouting "Use the taxi way n00b".<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

This mission took me XXX tries before I finally completed it!! I think it is completly impossible to do this without outside views. Taking off from the rough terrain, just outside the gate is the only viable option. Watch out for the forrest, you can crash into it. When going for the taxi lane instead, be warned that there are a couple of the same jets scrambling to shoot you down from that very airfield. There is also a tank of some kind shooting at you if you go for the taxi lane. Not mentioning the motorbikes and lorrie that are coming towards you on a collision course. Anyways, once you get your aircraft into the air, hug the ground and let your throttle sit on 100%. Ignore the overheat message, it doesn't really seem to affect the engine. Remember, there are a pair of I-250's scrambling to intercept you. They shoot pretty accurate, you need to get away immediatly on a 180 degree course. Ignore the waypoints since it doesn't get you the fastest way out. Don't engage autopilot also, since it will follow waypoints.

In short:
-Hug the earth
-100% throttle for a minute or 12
-heading 180.

Or you could try modifying the mission in the FMB.

p.s. Aren't the briefings absolute brilliant?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Thanks guys, I got it.

I just hit full power at start and thought as long as I don't see the gate I'm heading right for it. Took off and flew at 93% till my fueltank was half full and then went on at 75%. Never saw the enemy this time. I had been shot at by one of the I-250 while taxiing in one of my previus attempts.

Yes Platypus a very nice story behind it. I read about this campaign on the 1.JaVA site and wanted to see for myself. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Another (really difficult) way is to turn left immediately after leaving the aircraft shelter, avoid the bikes and the truck and drive between the hangars directly onto the taxi lane. On it i then somehow got to fast and then struggled into the air, barely so.
I needed at least 30 tries and then ran out of fuel over friendly territory cause i chose 25%. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Anyhow, this mission is certainly too difficult. Should've been reworked or deleted IMO.

Personally I enjoyed it. Getting bounced was too much fun but they got distracted with another plane in the area. Its not a nice plane to land though, neither is the He162 afterwards but its got really nice handling.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

It took me at least 10 tries before I successfully completed this one. I swung to left and headed for the runway after starting the engines. (I had to have the brakes on the whole time and about 60% power in order to cope with the crosswind. Taxied at about 20-30 kmph with this setup.) Be warned that the airfield's defences open up on you after about 20 seconds, but one of the hangars blocks most of the shots.

As I got on to the runway, the 2 I-250s defending the area made a strafing run on me, but missed. Exciting ! I saw that they swung to the left, so I swung to the right after taking off (taking off in the crosswind was very tough) and took off full throttle for the German lines. By this time the 2 I-250s were 5Ks behind me, but gave pursuit. I climbed up over the cloud cover and enjoyed the scenery.

I requested support from German ground control thereafter and they vectored 2 He-162s to help me out.

The I-250s caught up with me over German lines but before the He-162s arrived. They BnZed me and I did tight diving turns to avoid. On their 3rd pass, the element leader grazed my aircraft going at about 550 kph, and lost his vertical stabilizer. He then lost control and couldn't recover from his dive (crashed). I got credit for a kill! My starboard wing was heavily damaged from the collision. The russky wingman seemed at a loss as to what to do afterwards. He hemmed and hawed and then eventually BnZed me 2 times before the He-162s showed up and drove him off.

The mission was a real blast, but all the failed attempts prior to this diluted my enjoyment. I have some pics but how do I send them ?
