To enable you all to prepare your street parties, firework displays etc, I remind you that October 11 is

fast aproaching. This auspicious date shall this year mark the sixty-fifth anniversary of the maiden flight

of the Westland Whirlwind - Britain's first twin-engined cannon armed fighter aircraft.

I trust that you will join Whirlwind-Whiners worldwide as we raise a glass to remember the day when

a test pilot employed on taxi-ing and engine trials realised he was getting a bit close to the end of the

runway and took the decision to fly L6844 around Boscombe Down.

Perhaps you could aproach strangers in the street or in the pub and greet them with some Whirly

trivia like "Did you know that as a percentage of aircraft produced, more Whirlwinds were paid for by

subscription funds than any other British aircraft?" The delighted strangers will no doubt buy you a

pint of your favourite beer in recognition of your knowledge of British aviation heritage before checking

out the link to Nils' latest update on his wonderful model of this beautiful aeroplane.

All this before scurrying off to their nearest FB stockist to purchase and patch the game in preperation for the inclusion of the Whirlwind - so even if you're not a Whirlwind-Whiner it's going to boost sales and increase the chances of your favourite warplane being added in the future. You know it makes sense. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
