View Full Version : That old chestnut call 'Cheater!'

Its all so easy when you lose and don't like it to throw this out isn't it?
I was called it on a coop server on HL last night and banned. They host alot.

Did he view a recording to check my flying over before the ban?.
Did he check the Hurri IB in IL2compare (HSFX mod )I was flying to find out it is pretty much as fast as an E4 and faster over 8K where I was fighting?
Did he recall the last coop where I fought with him in a good fight which showed him I knew what I was doing?

Did he fek! No he calls 'Cheat!'
So I was a hacker because I could fight two of them using energy tactics in a, I'm sure inaccurate mod plane at a height the game does not model well and win.

Then the claims continue in HL. So I told him my squad name thinking this might help. As if!

The part that ****ed me off most was how due to my strongly denying this, that in some peoples eyes that was even more incriminating against me!!!!!
I'm buggered if I'm going to let a wee 'Tinpot General' throw bs accusations about willynilly. I fly in a squad and his accusations reflect on them as well as myself.

So firstly a question- how would/did you handle being called a cheat on HL?(I guess I did it poorly!- I was a bit sauced up)

And second a message to you hosts that ban/ignore folk because they make you look less than ordinary (a teammate has also been banned for this!) and you call them cheats.
Please realise that there are pilots out there not just on HL, a lot actually, who can do stuff you cant.
Why? not hacks. I've seen precious few in 6-7 years and none that made any difference to their piloting skills and understanding of dogfighting. Its the poorer pilots that try it in my experience and it shows.

So its practice against the best, at the hardest settings in the toughest servers/wars and it is practiced alot. Thats what. A 25min coop with easy settings isn't hard to look good in then is it?
Harder to accept than a world of cheaters I know.
Think before you blurt out 'cheat' next time.

And for the record host I do not cheat at IL2, never have, never will. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Thankyou

S!

1): "recording this conversation, firstly how exactly did I cheat, and got a track?" If answer is yes, then 2): "watch it and come to me again", if its no, then 2): "learn to fly". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I am called a cheater about once in a month myself as well...

Who's the host?

LEBillfish

Doesn't matter who the host is...as you have two options.

1. State no I do not, then be banned and never go back, and once in HL not go on about it past saying no being the bigger person.

2. Start whining and griping posting in HL and various forums about it making yourself look as bad a sport as the host.

Sour grapes is part of it.....and you have no idea of what slurs are if "cheat" is the worst of it (as you cannot even imagine the extent of the vulgarity cast at me constantly in HL, and in the sim online)........You can either buy into it dropping to there level, or let your reputation as a fair and good sport speak for you.

Blowing off such slurrs stating a lot more about your character then arguing the point.

I usually reply along the lines "I'm using the skill cheat. It's not for download, but I'm sure you can acquire it, too." End of discussion.

The wings wrt guns were like a,b,c, same as the Spits.

You only need one 's' in existed. Phonics is a reading method.

S!

Put IL-2 Compare to work. Based on the OP, Hurricane Mk.1b vs Bf109E-4. Both stock ones of course to get consistent results.

Fight altitude 8000m as told in post. Bf109E-4 is faster than Hurricane. 488km/h versus 502km/h, not much and difference but boils down how Hurricane pilot has trimmed plane and how skilled the Bf109E pilot is managing his radiator etc. Rate of climb on both is 6m/s at 8km so the initial situation determines outcome.

So being called a cheater is out of line there Gadje http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I have flown against FI and these guys are good sports, giving a run for the money http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I believe that the Mk I models all had 8x.303 armament, but that for purposes of clarity, the Mk Ia is used to designate the early fabric wing version with the fixed wooden prop, and MK Ib is used to designate the metal wing with the three bladed variable or constant speed prop versions.

i've been on both sides of this coin and there are betters ways to handle it.

If i suspect someone of cheating i usually just record and don't say anything. Then watch the track later and have a better look at it. Most of the time its not cheating, its that sometimes the game can cause an illusion due to the lack of depth perception or reference point, especially when you are flying at higher altitudes.
An example is a plane that appears to be zooming up toward me at an 'over the top' pace. Upon reviewing a track, its revealed that the plane i'm in is also falling adding to the effect the plane is zooming up faster than it should.

I usually avoid discussing Il2 compare, because any experienced simmer knows that il2 compare does not reveal all of the performance characteristics of an aircraft. Infact, you could be in a legit plane and still find that using Il2 compare is not always spot on when it comes to turning and speed, especially in dives and zooms.

You can't argue with an idiot, either, so making it a longer drawn out discussion about tactics and legitimacy can only bog you down. If i were limited to saying one statement, i would just tell them the version of the game i'm playing, and they should take their issues up with the people who provided them with the mods or version of Il2 they are using.

I must say, telling someone the version of the game or mod pack you are using usually settles any differences.

I've also always read that all mk1's only had 8 303's, and it wasn't untill the mkII with the b designation that 12 303's were introduced, as oppossed to IIa with 8.

Always read the MkI as 'a' and 'revised' rather than 'b', but i guess it depends on where you read.

First,I would run to the ubi forum and tell everyone about it,so that 20,000 people knew about it rather than 10 people on the server ,then I would spend the rest of my life hunting him down for the scurrilous slur on my character.

I will personally attest to the fact that Gadje and other FI squad members are shot down all the time, and if you can not handle flying with them then you are simply not as good or smart as they are......

Your first mistake was using hyperlobby. It's poorly coded and the only people using the chat are trolls.

I've been called a cheat once or twice before and I took it as a compliment. This being my first flight sim I was proud to have smacked somebody hard enough to get them to call me a cheat. To me it was like a rite of passing into the domain of non-noobs.

In chat I reply with "You wish." or "f*ck you I don't cheat" and left it at that.

I wonder what's the alternative for Il2?

I know i could enter the server info manually in multiplayer mode, but are there any other programs like hyperlobby being used for Il2 that are also free?

Xfire works.

It has a number of key advantages over HL:

1) It shows more servers, from all over the globe
2) It doesn't have a general chat room with no moderators
3) It actually gives correct player counts

Personally I just direct-connect from the multiplayer screen.

Why so serious? It's just a game afterall that we all play for fun. Don't let the guy whose ego makes him unable to handle defeat spoil it for you. Mods just give these hotheads a wonderful way to find an "excuse" for being defeated. Of course it's never your skill, how could it be since they are the best. It's always you that's a haXX0r. Anyway, take it as a compliment, it's what I tend to do. Last time I was accused of cheating and consequently banned from a server was for using a fire extinguisher on a TB-3 to repeatedly put out fires on my engines. This ****ed the guy in an attacking Brewster totally off because he never heard about fire extinguishers being modelled in a game before. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Gadje, You should wear those 'cheater' accusations like PURPLE HEARTS http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I know I do http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Just keep shooting them down and say nothing.

Why? Because shooting them down again and again is more memorable than any words you can say. Some people would rather ban you than fight you properly and they already know they can't so they ban you instead LOL. My old squad (Hello S.Mat and Baalberith!)called these people 'special friends' LOL

Entertaining these accusation means you felt you did (cheat) and you know you don't. This is like being called gay, ugly or fat or short when you're a Brad Pitt look-alike, thin and tall http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Its a pretty meaningless insult http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Welcome to the 'Banned Club {because they can't shoot us down any other way}' LOL

Hi chaps! Hope evereyone's well.

I'm on the verge of dipping my toes into Hyperlobbyland, just need to give the PC a shake-down.

I haven't played IL-2 online for 3yrs but in some ways nothing has changed; BOB still isn't out. In other ways it has. The habitat now supports a new species...."MODS".

It's all very confusing, i'm still finding my bearings at the moment.

K_Freddie

This is why Oleg has been against modding. Not that modding is bad when done honestly, but it does open up a can of worms.

Hopefully the BoB core engine will be secure from this sort of problem.

Usually 'cheat accusations' come from inferior pilots - Just ignore them and shoot them down again http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
