So who do you think is best character, i dont really want everyone to say the obvious ones like Altair and ezio, if you do then give a good original reason, think about other characters from either game, also take into consideration templars, mainly the first game some where quite cool.

one of my personnel favourites is desmond, cos hes cool and funny, and becomes epic when he learns ezios abilities.

i've always been a big fan of Jubair (the BURNTHEBOOOKSNAAAO guy). the way he pushed his associate into the fire for challenging him made me lol for about 22 minutes non stop.

i also loved the overweight merchant (forgot his name) in AC1 purely for his surprising sprinting speed http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif (the epic mass poison was awesome too though lol)

Speaking of Abul Nuqoud, I also saw in a video on Youtube where Altair pushes Abul Nuqoud off his balcony and he is surprisingly acrobatic despite being about 200 pounds or more. (Damn, I'm jealous of his acrobatic skills. XD)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzVc7He7fvA
(it's near the end around 3:00)

He isn't a favorite but I find Abul Nuqoud easy to sympathize with because he was mistreated by others because he was different (possibly gay) and joined the Templars because he wanted a world where everyone was accepted for who they are.

One of my favorites would be Paola because I like how instead of breaking down she decided to kill the person who has done her wrong, she's not just another one of Ezio's conquests (she's like a mother or teacher to him) and I really like her design.

Leonardo da Vinci and Machiavelli!!!
Leonardo because he's surprisingly very accurate (personality wise) compared to the way most people portray him. Also, he acts as someone who is very lax compared to every one else.

Machiavelli because he was in the game for about 10 seconds but he still made an awesome imprint XD (can't wait to see more of him in the DLC)

Also Bartolomeo, he doesn't need an explanation, he's just awesome XD

Well, I obviously love Altair and Ezio, but as for other characters this will take some thinking..

I too enjoy Desmond for having such a fun personality. He cracks jokes at the right moment and let alone he's as adorable as can be. Just seeing his own improvements in AC2 just made me appreciate the character a whole lot more. The Animus bleeding effect was a great imput into the game. As I am aware of that happening in the end of the first AC.

Another character I began to grow an attachment for was Maria, Altair's wife. Playing through the first game I thought nothing of her, then going through AC2 and playing that scene just melted my heart. Seeing the soft side of Altair, the first badass of the franchise, is an instant "Awe" moment, along with a "WTF" at the end. Reading through the Codex pages, even though she is not mentioned a whole lot you get the idea that Altair enjoyed every bit of his life with her. Let alone she's a great fighter, and she went from Templar to (possible) assassin.

Ah.. Malik.. How can I not forget your nubby arm! A key character to the franchise. A Right hand man of Altair later in life. The one who inspires our first Ancestor to write the 30 pages of the Codex, the one who allowed Altair to use the Apple after retrieving the Apple from their master, and Altair's father figure. Watching the development in both assassins from beginning to the end, how they are so snarky and negative to mature beings. Such a great thing to see, which makes me appreciate this character to some extent. Losing his brother, and his arm all due to Altair, and as Altair goes through those 9 assassinations and learning from those he killed, every time he would speak with Malik their conversations went from mere insults to actual conversations and that apology. Goes to show those who spill blood are human--for the most part. :P

I love every character that helps evolve the main character, only because we can all relate to them, even though they're nothing but fictional beings. Though, seeing as I'm praising AC1 so much, I should get onto speaking about those who I enjoyed in the Second game since I enjoyed that one a whole lot more.

Rosa, she is a *****y character. Her attire is completely different from the other women you see through out the game. She's not wearing a corset or a dress of any sort. She's only but an adorable tomboy who has such a dirty mouth on her. Yet, you cannot help but love that! She's absolutely stubborn, and how she just softens up toward our Ezio is at first akward, but then it grows on you like a tumor.. In a good way. Haha.

Bartholomeo, As UchihaKarasu has said in their post "He doesn't need an explanation, he's just awesome" it's true. He doesn't!

Leonardo Da Vinci, he starts out as a chilled out kind of guy who enjoys his inventions and artwork. Then instantly he's this super spazzy kind of fellow, that's how I saw him as. Hilarious. The Hidden blade cutscene had me giggling like an idiot, because it was so funny. "But first you must sacrifice your left ring finger.. JUST KIDDING!" I know didn't go exactly like that, but it's still funny, especially seeing Ezio's face all tensed up in the process. Every scene was such a great comic relief, for those intense moments. Especially after Ezio loses his family, that was just sad.

Anyway, I think I'm done for now. :x

Machiavelli takes the cake for me. I was surprised by his appearance, the way he was voice acted squared pretty nicely with my idea of how Machiavelli might have sounded when he was still around, and his placement within the Assassin crew is, in my opinion, spot on.

I appreciate Rosa a lot as well, but since Bampire summed her up to perfection up there, I'll leave it at that.

Edit: Hm, I just thought of one more addition.

I am patently in awe of Rodrigo Borgia. From the time when he chides the Templar co-conspirators about the demise of the Pazzi family, to the moment where Ezio confronts him during the "escort the crate" sequence, you see...Borgia. Ruthless, calculating and absolutely assured of his own power and importance. His storyline strikes me as awesome, and his voice actor as a person in need of a medal.

YES! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif i think even though most people who knew about his character, already probably knew he'd say that, it was still funny.

Niccolo Machiavelli all the way his Minor yet Vital appearance to Ezio made him more Badass he is just so Mysterious and he knows how to do it and when and he always has an Explanation to the Unknown and when you just look at him... he has this Glance. Plus Him and Ezio will make an Awesome Team In the DLC.

This Choice might be Strange to some but I also like Rodrigo Borgia, he is Wise,Calm,Decisive,Badass,Aware and Keen and a Skilled Fighter. In short Every Aspect of an Antagonist and a Protagonist is within him, what AlMualim lacked he Gained, AlMualim was too Arrogant which made him a Rather Easy Victim, it took Ezio 23 Years to Face Borgia

I really like the Idea of "La Volpe".
The only thing I didn't like was his costume.

i quite liked him, i'd prefer if he'd have had a bigger part.

he also seemed to be the only other character that could actually climb, apart from rosa.

Ya, he should've had a bigger part indeed.

I liked La Volpe , although he needed a bigger part.
As did Machiavelli. He was awesome while he was in the story, but he could have been awesomer :')

AND, Leonardo Da Vinci. He's just epic, and the game did well to portray his hyperactiveness and inability to settle on one thing, showing unfinished paintings and things, as well as his love of decoding codex pages, he built the "flying machine", made the hidden blade etc etc
He's a key character, and is awesome. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Mario had the best intro, an actual LOL moment for me.

Rosa was enjoyable, I like the sassy ones http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Paola was very cool for her philosophy.

La Volpa needed a bigger part, maybe even some pickpocket missions where you steal things from guarded npcs without being caught.

From AC2 I liked Machiavelli a lot, but that's, I think, also a bit because it was what I imagined him to be. The rest of the crew was a bit 'meh' to me. Ezio's a loveable ham, sure, but he is just too temperemental to be what should be an assassin in my eyes. I really like the rafiq of Acre. He's wise and patient and clearly has a lot of knowledge. Malik's quite cool, too.

To be honest, in all the franchise, Altair after he demands answers takes the cake. I can't help it.

i thought that a lot of the characters didn't get nearly enough developement, you see them a few times, apart from having to do 5 billion missions (exageration much?) for antonio, who as a character wasn't even written that well (in my opinion) one moment he's your friend, then he gets all aggresive, he's probably the one character who seemed least like an assassin.

i loved that part with mario, hence name.

@assassino151, sorry about that, if it helps, this thread was made in january.

Agreed with Bampire on Malik. What a great character - it was nice to see him mentioned in the codex.

Also, besides the main characters, I'd say Mario, Leo and Lucy are all well done. I really liked almost all the templars from AC1: Sibrand, Jubair, Abul, William, and Tamir. AC2's not so much but they really weren't know as well as the AC1 guys.

Altair, because he was the only proper Assassin in any of the games.

Al Mualim, even though he was a filthy Templar that didn't stop him from being absolutely right about everything. And after reading Alamut he reminds be of Vladimir's depiction of Hassan ibn-Sabbah.

Malik. 'Nuff said. (http://askalty.smackjeeves.com/comics/302061/super-malik/)

The Rafik in Acre, he seemed a good mentor to Altair. Although he was less informed than Al Mualim he seemed wiser.

Ezio before he became an assassin. I liked the way he interacted with and took care of his family, he's a good brother/son. After he donned the hood however he seemed to lack that certain quality of an Assassin that made Altair so appealing.

Shaun Hastings, similar to the Acre Rafik in level-headedness and slightly funnier.

La Volpe, aside from his hideously coloured robes he makes a pretty good thief.

Leonardo da Vinci, a fun character but after all the hype that surrounded him I was disappointed to see so little of him in-game. His cutscenes seemed to get rushed along a bit fast.

I'd like to say Niccolo Machiavelli but he didn't really do anything to deserve mention. His character could've been replaced by a signpost pointing to Ezio's next objective and it wouldn't have made that much of a difference. What a waste of character, Ubi.

Hahahahahahaha! But yeah, Machiavelli was an awesome historical character, so i wish they involved him more. Hopefully he'll have a bigger part in BroHood!

considering i didn't even know who macheaveli was (i mean i heard of him but dont know what he did.) he didn't really seem that good as a charcter, although his sudden appearance seemed to surprise me for some reason.

i didn't really like any of the templars from AC2, the ones in AC1 where quite interesting and each had their reasons for doing what they did, some seemed like they only wanted to help the people (though a little misguided) however the AC2 templars seemed only driven by greed, they werent presented very well, at no point do they say they want a new world order of peace, it seams more they are pordered and payed to do what they do. they just follow rodrigo borgia who himself is driven by nothing more than greed for power, he uses the pieces of eden not with the desire of peace, but to open the vault, where he thinks he will kill 'god'.
Savonarola was the only one with a slightly honourable ideal.

if you can call it/him/her/they a character, the god/goddess/gods ?? at the end of ac2. i did not expect such a twist, and every time i remember in those scenes i wonder where the story will proceed.

also giovanni auditore. (especially if you have seen the lineage)
