Oleg,

F8F BearCat is my dream ...

I thin that there is a lot of people who love that machine.

If we run 1946, there really has to be F8F present.

I ask everybody who want that machine to be included in the game to write a short massage to Oleg.

... Looking foreword...

Not going to happen. At least not from Oleg. Perhaps if someone had made the model 2 or 3 years ago it might happen but from what I gather no one on Oleg's team is bothering with IL2 except for a minor bug fix or two or inclusion of a map.

Only way it will happen is:

a) if Oleg opens up IL2. Not likely as he has stated many times he has no intentions of opening up the aircraft side of things.

b) If Oleg ever decides to do a Pacific theater again as an add-on to BoB or some future sim. Most likely case and even then not very likely as Oleg has expressed on more than one occasio that he doesn't care for the Pacific. PF itself was primarily a third party effort and was never really pushed by Oleg and 1C.

We will consider it, after you will pay the license fee to the Northrop-Grumman corporation for us, ok?

Maybe we could pass around the hat? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Or rob several banks...I'll get the hat. Who's on bank duty? Where's Megile?

I'll take bank duty.....noone would ever think that a skinner would step away from the puter long enough to do it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

You're new here, so I'll save the extraneous chat and cut straight to the point.

IL2 is pretty much at the end of the line, dev-wise. There is a rumor of one more patch, 4.09, but as we understand there are no new planes and certainly not planes we wish for "now." The deadline for new aircraft models was ages ago, my friend.

Bearcat--

maybe you better post this in a GIGANTIC CAPS-LOCK STICKY at the top of every forum.

The F8F? I think we'll see the F4U-4 long before we see the F8F and the F4U-4 will never be seen in Il2. Best bet would be in an add-on to the upcoming SoW:BoB, but I wonder if there will be any U.S. aircraft added to that sim after the Pacific Fighters fiasco.

new game engine, new chance ?!

without american planes this , http://rrgstudios.com/EN_02_08_UnnamedTitle.shtml , announced by Luthier as a Korena War SIM based on the SOW engine or a SOW:MTO AdOn would not make much sense ?!?!?!

Anyway, no F8F for both http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
propably from a free 3.Party guy, if the 3.Party Tool for SoW will ever be released...........

Ask Gibbage about modeling the F8F.

From what I understand you only have to pay a license fee if you attach Grumman to the plane. Which UBI/1C did with PF. That was a bad mistake on their part. An F8F would be free or would have been.

Oleg said no new US planes after getting burned on the North./Grumman deal. It doesn't even matter if the licensing issue could be bypassed because he made up his mind not to have anything to do with it. A bunch of people were going to pay a 3rd party developer to make a F4U-4 back when there was plenty of time but Oleg shot the idea down.

We all know this is a dream ... but in adding another torpedo bomber without first making the torpedo harder/more accurate in its performance/ complicated would be a waste of time.

I mean what is the friggin point!

It seems to me that you can drop a torpedo at any height/speed - every time you drop a torpedo it works properly, runs straight and true, and always detonates when it hits the target ship - which it invariably does since the target ships "don't know nuthin about no evadin'"

To those it may concern,

List the a/c for which license fees are required, and watch:

1) the donations flow in

2) the letter-writing campaign start

I can understand the legal rationale behind being seen to up-hold copyright over names & likenesses, but I can't see any reason for imposing a large license fee. The rights could be sold for a nominal fee and all would be well; and let's face it, anything the flightsim market could afford would be a nominal fee to N-G anyway!

Personally I think it's a crying shame that so many interesting American a/c are missing from this sim as a result of this alleged issue.

If there is the will to model them, do not underestimate the ability of the wider community to move mountains in order to support this product.

Tell the community what is needed for you to release content, and I'm quite certain that the results would be beyond expectations...

Hmmm, we got the Douglas A-20C. Douglas was bought out by Northrop, that is now Northop-Grumman. That is not very Logical.

Maybe 1C should change publishers. Get one were the people know how to type or proof-read. Then this whole home-made fiasco would have been adverted.

I'm confident that a way has been or will be found to get around or through the N-G license issue...

as far as the bearcat goes though, I love the plane and it would be awesome to fly but I'm firmly in the "planes that actually flew combat in the war first" camp and all the excuses about how 'close' it was doesn't put the F8F in that category. It has the same right to be there the Ki-83, the Tempest II or the P-51H does (love 'em all)...wait for the 'what if...PTO 1946' add-on to BOB in 2015.

I don't think so.
I'd settle for only two planes more in this game: B5N and either Devastator or Avenger basically any USN torpedo bomber with one engine and a hook.

But that's not going to happen, and we can have thousand other minor types that most people never heard of but not those who influenced Pacific Air War the most. A shame.

But even bigger shame is crying for other planes... I have my favorites as well, certainly bigger than Kate or Avenger, but I sorted my priorities long time ago along with few members of this forum.

But let's see...

Oleg please we need MiG-15! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
