What is the limit of IL-2 FB? How many planes could you have in it, outside of processor and RAM, etc?

Well, there are:
* 91 Red Regiments
* 176 Blue Regiments
* 1 Neutral White Regiment (called NoNe, not in FMB, but available editing text file)

Each regiment has 4 squadrons of 4 flights, for a total of 16 Flights per Regiment.

Soooooo:
* 91 x 16 = 1456 flights = 5824 red aircraft
* 176 x 16 = 2816 flights = 11264 blue aircraft
* 1 x 16 = 16 flights = 64 neutral aircraft

For a grand total of up to 17152 aircraft in a mission...

Why does UQMG have a 32 aircraft limit? I am working on it man! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Good day.

Good Lord!

I can hear my CPU groaning under the load of 16 planes when using UGMG - but 17,000 ?!!! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Great program by the way, I am really enjoying it.

Q: Is it normal to have such substantial frame rate drops with offline missions and 16 aircraft? I generally turn most of the extra objects off (except AAA)?

I've got a reasonable system: P4 2.6 GHZ, ATI 9700, 768MB RAM, 400 MHZ FSB....

Thanks again for UGMG!

Yea I tried to make a mission with 10 flights of Stuka's coming in for the attack. 2 flight of 109 E4's as their escort, and 3 flights of I-16's type 28's scrambling up against them. One of which the player being part of with only minimal ground objects, and over a pretty empty (no cities) part of the map.

Let's just say results were not too good. Thats one thing I don't like about FB that I did like about CFS. I remember the mission where you were sent in a Hurricane up against about 40 Stuka's. The objective was to down about 20% of them. Needless to say with 56 airplanes in the air things didn't go well at all. I also have a pretty up to date system not top notch, but it'll play anything that hits the shelves tomorrow with no problems.

Every take-off is optional, but every landing is mandatory!

LOL. you can have a maximum of 50 aircraft in a mission. It gets pretty hairy at that point,e ven on my system.

BTW, whats UQMG?

* JetStream100 and Hopperfly22 - The drop rate depends on a ton of things. It is best to make sure and turn off almost every application you can running in the background, especially anti-virus (be sure you are off-line), and anything else. If you see an application called "mdm.exe" running, you can count on your PC running almost 50% less efficient... I have no idea why MS put that application there. It is a machine debug manager. OK if you are building apps, but I have not needed it. Other things to keep in mind is turning down a notch on the graphics settigs. The more AI aircraft you have, the more CPU/RAM time is dedicated to each AI plane. Each AI plane behaves as a "person", so the more "persons" you have in a mission, there more the PC has to dedicate time and RAM to emulate several "persons" thinking, acting and reacting... BTW thank you for using my program (At least I mean that to JetStream100).

* JG27_Droz - UQMG, UberQuick Mission Generator is a 3rd party add on to IL-2 FB which I wrote. It is a Quick Mission Generator which incorporates features of FMB in a QMB-like interface. It is fairly integrated with IL-2 FB and it generates Single/Coop versions of every mission plus the ability to generate Dogfight arenas with all maps. The features are too many to mention, the best thing is to try it. Please check it out at www.uberdemon.com (http://www.uberdemon.com)
