View Full Version : F4U Corsair in unpatched PF Campaigns? + Other Questions

It has been an unending exercise in frustration my friends. AND, as such I have a set of questions that begs to be answered:

1. Is there any way in an unpatched version of Pacific Fighters (Which is a combined install with FB and AEP) to use the F4U series of aircraft in either the United States Navy or USMC campaigns? I know people say "just select it from the list" but..eh, it's not there.

2. In any of the patches has there been a correction to the incorrect position of the F6F-3 and 5's tailhook position? Landing the Hellcat is most definately a pain in the ****, landing a Corsair is easier!

3. Is it at all possible to use the P-38 in any campaigns as well?

Thanks!

I made a list of campaigns, aircraft, etc. that were available in standalone PF 3.0 ... I'd imagine the campaigns are the same for 3.0m. Anyhow, the Marines didn't have a Corsair career (only P-39s and P-400s) but the Navy did. Look under these campaigns:

USN: US Navy Fighter: Tarawa, November 1943 (F4F-4, F4U-1A, F4U-1D).
USN: US Navy Fighter: Palau, September 1944 (F6F-3 Late, F4U-1A, F4U-1D).
USN: US Navy Fighter: Iwo Jima, February 1945 (F6F-5, F4U-1C, F4U-1D).
USN: US Navy Fighter: Chichi Jima, March 1945 (F6F-5, F4U-1C, F4U-1D).
USN: US Navy Fighter: Okinawa, April 1945 (F6F-5, F4U-1A, F4U-1D).

In addition, try the Royal Navy:
RN: Royal Navy: Iwo Jima, February 1945 (Seafire L Mk.III, Corsair Mk.I, Corsair Mk.II, F6F-5).
RN: Royal Navy: Chichi Jima, March 1945 (Seafire L Mk.III, Corsair Mk.II, Corsair Mk.IV, F6F-5).
RN: Royal Navy: Okinawa, April 1945 (Seafire L Mk.III, Corsair Mk.IV, F6F-5).

As for the P-38, I don't see any campaigns that use it in v3.0, at least not as flyable to the player.

I'm adding a screen that might help you out even though its not of the USN campaign:

This is when you are starting a new campaign. When you click on the aircraft model, a pull down menu allows you to change to a different plane that is offered in the campaign. You'll be stuck with whatever you choose once you start the campaign.

AH thank you, however, has the Hellcat's arrestor hook been fixed? I'm tired of having to flair so hard in order to get a good trap.

I think the hook now hangs almost straight down now, rather than the original way it slanted backwards too much.

You can change the plane listed on the fourth line of the script by adding the proper Dgen internal name from the list below. If you change it, you will still fly one more mission in the old plane type and then it will change the next mission after that.

You can also go into the Dgen folder and edit the list of planes and radically expand the types of planes that be be selected and flown
at the start of the career. This adds the new planes to the drop down menus when you start a career. You simply find the planes###.dat file for the nationality and campaign you are flying.
For example, the planesRuF.dat file is for the
Russian Fighter campaign and the planesJAA.dat would be for the Japanese Army career. Below I show an excerpt from my planesRuF.dat file which I expanded a huge bunch with more plane types.
You should open them in Notepad. They will not open by default in Notepad so just right click and select "Open with" and then choose Notepad from the list. Here I show you my expanded planesRuF.dat file just as an example. ( The game comes with much a much more limited set of planes to fly out of the box ).
