Hi Guys,

Am new to the forum so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I am after advise on a mod ffor IL2 that lets you play in the battle of britain, or fly spits & hurricaanes against 109's e.t.c

I recently saw this vid on google video & it blew me away, how can I play this on il2 - also is it in game graphics or prerendered?

I know Il2 isn't really about the BOB, but would love to fly spits and hurricanes in this game - is there a mod out there that has a BOB campaign or is there a really good mod for this type of thing?

Sorrry again ffor being new aand clueless!

Hi

What you are looking for is not a mod, it's a Campaign. As an aside, no mods are available for the aircraft in this sim. There are several programs that allow you to work with the sim more efficiently, but they do not really mod the sim

In any case you're looking for a Battle of Britain campaign http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

This is possible. Two choices I think:

1) Extreme_One and Poymando made a very nice Hurricane campaign for the Battle of Britian called "Battle over Britian". It actually starts with the BEF in France (British Expeditionary Force) if I recall. Highly recommended

2) although we do not have the correct Spitfire for the Battle of Britian, there is I beleive a campaign for one in the works, for the Battle of Britian, called 'Spit'n Fire". Here is a link:

And this link is to a good list of all user-made campaigns:

Well I'm under strong impression that Bussta only has original IL2: Sturmovik.
If this is indeed the case, one needs atleast IL2: Forgotten Battles and Aces Expansion pack to get Spitfires in the game, although I would honestly recommend the whole deal with IL2: Complete Edition DVD

Well this game may not be about Battle of Britain, (the game dasigner is working on a new battle of Britain game due to release next year) and we don't have the early Spitfire MK1 in the game, but we do have in game <span class="ev_code_YELLOW">SIXTEEN</span> versions of spitfire, <span class="ev_code_YELLOW">FOUR</span> versions of Hurricane, <span class="ev_code_YELLOW">FORTEEN </span> Meserschmitt variants, two Heinkels 111, Junkers 88, four stukas, two BF 110's, Mosquito, and about <span class="ev_code_YELLOW">A HUNDRED FIFTY OTHER FLYABLE AIRCRAFT.</span>. So yes you can have a good Battle of Britain fight going on. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

The graphics in that nice movie are what you are going to see in game. Nothing is tricked in that video. Explosions are exactly like in game, water as well , flight model, terrain and so on.

This is a really nice flying game we have here. You missed five years of priceless fun with this game. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif

Have a look in this forums and you'll find a lot of screenshots that will prove that this game looks even better then that movie. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

The latest official version is <span class="ev_code_YELLOW">IL-2 Complete Edition DVD</span>

If all you have is IL2 then you will need to get current. Below is all you need to know. You will enjoy this sim. The learning curve is steep and it is very demanding on the system.. but well worth it. btw... no need to apologize for being new and clueless.. we all were at one time. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Go Gamer.Com (http://www.gogamer.com/IL-2-Complete-Edition-DVD-Front-Page_stcVVproductId4760175VVcatId444710VVviewprod. htm)
After that you will need to go to this site (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/pacificfighters/downloads/) and aquire the following patches:

Install patch pf_patch303m.exe (100MB)
Install patch pf_patch401m.exe (141MB)
Install patch pf_v402m.exe (31MB)
Install patch pf_patch403m.exe (155MB)
Install patch pf_patch404m.exe (21.8MB)

This will bring you up to version 4.04. Then if you want to be totally current (4.05) you will have to get the Pe-2 addon (http://shop.ubi.com/Search.asp?keyword=PE-2&Go.x=21&Go.y=0) which is under $20 and is a download.

If you are totally new to the sim and have nothing and want to do it all in one shot (and you have a highspeed connection) then you can DL the entire series up to verison 4.05 from here:

I have had all the upgrades, patches, etc...purchased. I have the CD's, etc, around here...somewhere..

When I get my new Rig, if I buy the downloadable "Package", does it install as 4.05M with one easy Installation scheme, or will I still have to separately install individual FB, PF, etc, and also run installs of all the patches???

It would be great if it were a Simple one click, INSTALL to 4.05M. I'd gladly pay $30US for that simplicity. It's a marketing/Sales challenge for UBI to do it that way, I am sure.
