Thought these would be a great addition for BoB...at some point.

My father lives in whitstable and on a fine day these odd looking structures can be seen on the horizon - he knew they were forts but we thought they might have been Napoleonic or of First World War vintage - they look decidedly wierd and anachronistic for WW2 era!

Great info!
During the cold war,the US used similar offshore facilities as radar installations.They were basically converted oil platforms,hence the name "Texas towers".

This one comes around every few months or so. No good for BoB, first one in place in 1942.
