I don't know, but might be worth viewing this (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=23110283&m=4041018232) thread from the General Discussion board and this (http://www.simhq.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=98;t=013122;p=) thread from SimHQ regarding updating your Java version. The curing of stutters is mentioned in a few people's replies.

Which graphic card drivers are you using?

Cheers, Spinner

I alway run the game on max settings except perfect because of my for Geforce 4 card.

I starting getting the old stutters after I intalled the game. I think this could be because some thing I did was overwitten after the install.

I'll try that Java sun.. Sounds interesting.

I installed PF over FB/AEP2.04 and had extreme stutters. Actually they were micro lockups http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

I uninstalled, defragmented, installed all again and then defragmented again. The large stutters are gone, although it stutters just a little more than FB/AEP2.04

I also have the JRE5 on my system but have not messed with the PF java folders/files.

actually where exactly does it stutter ? and how ? online, offline, maps, settings ? etc.

My system: XP 3200@2500Mhz, 1,5GigDDR3200,Nvidia GT6800 AudigyPLayer..

i found: Driver on GT6800: Best is so far 66.81 (beta) the official ones and also 65.xx do stutter !!! and are extremely instable.
Dont OC the 6800U too much !! I had my GT overclocked to what the driver recommended after testing (406 Mhz) and in the beginning it seemed to work fine, i was amazed, but as time went by i had strange crashes and increased stutter, especially with FB, when i reduced my OC to 382 (thats what i found save for my GT after much experimentation) i can say i have a stable system now and much less stutter.

Actually the trees suck, flying low over forrest is worse then on my trusty old Radeon 9700pro, it actually takes settings Texturecompression to STC to get a half decent performance over forest.
There is a strange thing going on: fps over forest seems to be high but it is still jerky subjectively. if you measure with fraps and make the measuring intervalls very fine you will find that the generally high framerate drops to 5-10 for fractions of a second. Probably still a driverproblem wiht loading the texturetiles.

Set your AGP aperture size in Bios to 256 with 6800 !!

Make sure in the conf.ini that forrest is set to 1 not 2, water set to 1 or 2, not 3, this makes my performance go down very much.
Especially check effects=1, effects=2 kills any existing system i guess.
The sun JRE5 five patch did change my framerate not at all, but it did really reduce stutter a lot, but only after i had deinstalled MS Java and the including registry keys !!!! It was expressed in the threads that it might be enough to just install SunJava and change the according settings in the IE. Thats not!!! the case according to my experience. Webbrowsing is very good and without problems too after the patch. Recommended.

Online: I found the Hyperlobby default set of 28K often causing stutter, especially in objectloaded situations (Flakshooting, cities) or when coming into close DF. When inside the game i go to network settings and change to ISDN if necessary.

I like to fly with 1280x960, 2xAA & 2xAF. More would be possible but i prefer high framerate.

II/JG54_Zent

I fixed the stutter...it turned out that theeffects in the config.ini file was the cause of it....anyway if it helps anyone else here is my opengl settings...and still getting 60+fps@1600x1200 antix2 anisx2

FB and AEP stutters so bad (after first patch)and frames only in the low to mid 20s (and tryed everything to fix)on my machine but PF runs so smooth i hope they dont do anything to muck it up like they did AEP

Heres something that can fix it.For those whom are running with a no-cd rts.dll for pf.Can uninstall it and use the original rts file (if you own the original pf).I my self tested the rts.dll no-cd to save my precious cd´s,but the game was simply unplayable and i reinstalled the original file.
For those whom now are too bash me about using a nocd, sthu cause every user HAVE the legal rights to make a backup copy of game, but since you cant do that only have to try a no-cd,too save them.
