I'm so humbled by this driving, I Know it's crazy..but jeez..that is some great driving. I've gotta get me a racing sim that will simulate this stuff! This looks more adrenaline pumping than a good dogfight!!

I agree that does look like a lot of fun and something I would've done in my youth, but boy was that dangerous. I've gone through long periods of time where I play mostly racing sims and it can be quite adrenaline pumping and get your competitive juices flowing. I tend to enjoy the road racing stuff more then oval tracks, there's something very satisfying about whipping out and out-braking someone into a turn.

Damn dangerous thing to do on a public street. This is drift racing for those that are unfamiliar. In my day we went in a straight line! On a deserted road mind you.

Check out the videos on this page.

Uh lovely sound of that 109 - scary http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

About the cars: I've got to admit he's pretty good but I still think it's a totally reckless thing to do - people get killed from this & often it's not those driving http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

Tell you what, if someone in my family was injured/killed by one of those knuckleheads, I'd be out for blood.

Its always fun until someone gets hurt. Those guys may be good, but they can't possibly anticipate what's ahead on the road or what kind of vehicle malfunction may bite them in the a$$.

Daddy needs to take the car keys back (or neuter the little ba$tards).

There were at least four of them judging by the headlights in the rear view mirror. Looks like british roads?

They seemed pretty sure nothing was coming the other way otherwise it was going to be a big pile up.

I did a quick review on that 109 video in this thread

Looks like Japan.

And if my dad had an RX-7 with a blow-off valve big enough to register in the video, and presumably a turbo big enough to warrant it... ok I don't know what I'd do, but it would be very nice indeed.

That Senetor is just as wrong as those a$$-jacks drift racing on public streets. Punishing everybody over the acts of a select few is never the way to solve a problem. Keep one thing in mind, in the United States that kind of wreckless driving on public streets is allready Illegal and has very heavy punishment for those who are caught doing so. However, that being said people do it ANYWAY, because they OBVISOUSLY don't care what the law says they can and cannot do. So anybody who thinks passing another sort of law to punish lawbreakers needs to have their head checked.

It is a fact that young drivers do pose a higher risk on the roads than the older, experienced drivers. The key word in that statement is "experienced". To put it in context to the theme of these boards, who had a higher probability of surviving a fight in the air? The rookie fresh out of training, or the combat veteran with 150 sorties under his belt? It has nothing to do with the age of the driver, and everything with the amount of time they have behind the wheel.

Another little peice of food for thought, is that not every young driver is an adrenaline junkie who lives to show off what his "tuner car" can do. I have seen "adults" that drive more irresponsibly than teenagers. In fact I think every smack-tard I've seen go flying by me on the freeway, weaving in and out of traffic at 80mph during peak hours appeared to be over the age of 20. Hell some look over 30. The last person to cut me off was some guy in a suit and tie driving a BMW...

I'm almost 25 years old, and have been driving since the age of 15. In that time I have had ZERO speeding tickets (or any moving violations for that matter) and the only collision I've had was when someone backed into me in a parking lot. When I was still a "Teenage driver" the fear of my Parents ending my free world as I knew it if I screwed up behind the wheel was enough to keep me from doing anything monumentally stupid.. Now that I'm older, courtesy to others on the road and knowing that saving myself a whole 5 minutes on my drive to/from work isn't worth a $300 speeding ticket are a couple factors that keep me from acting like a idiot behind the wheel.. Well that and stupidity in a vehicle can be fatal... I like living http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Personally, the only time I ever did some seriously ******ed things in a vehicle were off public roads where the only person at risk of injury was myself.. I just couldn't resist taking the 1971 Datsun 510 we had just sitting around boonie crashing on the vineyard I grew up on http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif But thats also because there is an appropriate time and place for most things. It's why there are amateur race-leagues, for both street and drag racing. Perfectly legal, sanctioned events that provide people with a safer, regulated environment to show off what their fancy wheels can do.

Sorry for the rant, but seeing that some idiot wants to punish everybody because a few want to be stupid puts me into soap-box mode.

Ever played Forza Motorsport? (only on XBox as far as I know) Definately the sort of game that you would enjoy. Most of it is in road tracks with lots of curves and whatnot. There is one oval...but thats mostly just having the fastest car and a good line around the track. Some of the other maps are VERY intense...personally its the simulation aspect of tweaking the ever last 'nth of the car is what keeps me going on it.

With all due respect sonnie, that is rediculous.
Those punks are taking others lives into their hands. Even out in the middle of nowhere (short of a sanctioned race) some poor medic will have to risk limb to save the dope.
This kind of complete irresponsibility is the handiwork of selfish teens.

being in a slide doesnt mean your out of control

if you have never learnt how - then you'll never know what's possible , not everyone is useless behind the wheel or handelbar's

the guys in the thread starters video are not going that fast - there showing off what stiff rear suspension is good for . to see what risky really is , check this out :

Drifting is usually done at low speeds with cars setup accordingly, for example did you notice how stiff the rear suspension was in those cars well that causes massive over steer and in turn that can be controlled with the throttle.

Personally I would be more impressed if they had a lot more speed and managed to run that road without all the sliding as that takes real skill and a perfect car setup.

How fast do you think those guyz were going initially before the sliding around the turns? I saw lots of down shifting and up shifting on the straight aways.

I often feel like this too when I see politicians trying to gain points this way.

Watched the video. Quite amazing, reminds me of my games on NFS Most wanted.

Also, quite IDIOTIC. If he wants to drive like that, get off the road or keep it to a racing sim/game. One slip up. one mistake and you have a dead person - and you can`t reload or quit to bring that person back to life.

Well I looked at it again and I would say most of the big slides were done at the bottom/middle of second gear so I would suggest his speed in those opposite lock slides was no more than 40-60kph.

As for the max speed reached I don€t know but he did not have to do much braking before he down shifted to second, honestly this guy was not in good control just look at his driving position it€s all wrong. As soon as he turns the wheel his arms are strait and he starts to reach forwards to get more lock in the end his arms are in knots lol.

If you want to see good car control download some rally videos those guys are gods.

GAWD that looks like a hell of a lot of fun, but I would hope they at least have that section of the road closed off. Of course, it's likely they don't, and those kids are risking an awful lot, even if it is three o'clock in the morning...

That R32 and RX7 are quite obviously tuned up a LOT! You can hear the R32 ahead under acceleration over the noise the RX7 itself is making. Also, the fact that you can even hear the RX7's wastegate purging gives one an indication of how powerful the turbo itself is.

Amazing stuff.

Oh dear, that gave me flashbacks... though the bike I did that sort of stuff on wouldn't have been able to get up to 250km/h that easy, the speeds compared to the other traffic aren't that much different. Big weebles or no, these kids are ultra ******s. People die because of idiots like this doing stupid stunts with cars. If you had a beloved person close to you killed because of a street race like this, maybe you'd agree more with me than you.

There is nothing exciting about this.

There is nothing cool about this.

There is only two ultra-idiots willing to kill both themself and you and your entire family to feel like they're cool. Is the life of your closest loved one worth the boost to this kid's ego? Is your life?

Pathetic.

Hmm, I wonder if the only reason some young men seem to be so keen to fight wars is because they are fitter,,, or dumber!!

Don't think big webbles and being a rally fan I don't think that good a driving they are losing far too much speed in corners to be going REALLy fast, fast enough though to wipe me out coming the other way with my wife and kids.

No way round it though I 'spose apart from to ban people driving under a certain age, I know coz I did it as well http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

It's a kids thing,, with dangerous toys
