View Full Version : Which plane?

I was just wondering how many people fly one plane specifically and without exception? I usually fly whatever plane I feel like flying at the moment, not tending to stick to one version, type, or even country.

I'm addicted, it's the FW-190A only for me. I'll give the Dora a spin once in awhile also. I've tried flying other planes but they just feel weak and boring by comparison. I wish more people would stick with their favorite planes, to me that's what it's all about. I recommend trying them all, but when one grabs you, you'll know.

I agree that flying one type of plane and becoming an "ace" in it is fun. I can't seem to settle down with one plane though. I always love a good ground pounding mission but I find great fun in dogfighting and attacking bombers. I think the great part of this game is that it allows you to fly whatever plane you want however you want.

Shifty, that's another reason I love the 190. It's a great ground attack plane, a great fighter, and a great bomber interceptor. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Probably the most versatile plane of WWII. Most of the tests carried out by the LW were done with the 190 (Mistel, V-1 carrying, etc.).

Yes I've had success with the 190 in ground attack missions but I feel that the guns it has arn't well suited for ground attack and the bomb load is the only weapon I can do anything with. I won't deny the fact that it is one of the best dogfighters and bomber interceptors in the game.

for some odd reason i really like the bf109E and tend to stick with it. i like campaigns that revolve around ground attacks where i can occasionally help out the fighter cover.

thats where this game is best for my taste. then again , i dont play online.

I fly the first lagg, the brewster, some of the 09s, the early mig, and the p-40. Someone told me the other day to fly the e- after watching me spin into the ground a few times- as it is more stable than the m so Im going to try and stick with the e.

Though I really try and fly everything like it is an 09 I'm by far best in the lagg. It's the plane Ive flown the most in by far.

All fun planes though imo.

'O if Im in a late war map and flying red I'll pick the 47 instead of the other options. I'm funny like that. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

edit Ack, as to the question. Whelp as you can see I don't really stick to one plane but rather a group of them. Hopefully I'll be a full time p-40 guy soon. But as of lately I'll take it out a few times, depart the flight envelope one too many times, and then switch to one of the others that I'm partial too.

I stick with my P-39 unless I need to even teams out or if it's unavailable.

I am curently flying the P-39Q10. I usualy take the 47 up for a spin a couple time's first. I was useing the LA-7 quit oftet, but when i got into a P-39 it bonded with me. I will try the P-40 sometimes just to get the hang of it.
For kicks i will fly a He 111 and Use F2 and wach the show, thats a blast lol.

I can't commit. i know it's wrong & selfish of me but i jsut can't help it. I'll be havin' a wonderful time cuttin the rug with a beautiful Yak, & then out of the corner of my eye i'll catch a glimpse of a short rather round girl & before I know what's happened we're tossing & turning, & flipping & generally rolling all over the sky.
Then I'll sddenly get thristy for a Malt & realize i can't be seen at the Drive In with This girl...then there I am rolling doen my window & placing my order.....

P-39 - untill I'm damn good it then I might find something new.

I was to take responsability for the newcomer Erich Hartmann. I looked at him and thought: Oh my God, what are they sending us now? What a baby!

I'll fly anything I like (P-47/40/39, 190s and 109s ) until I start losing then I goto an La5/7 or Yak1b/3/9, if I'm still losing then it's time for the Yak3.

The benefit is that I know exactly how much faster a Dora rolls than a P-47, I know nothing can out barrel roll a Yak3 at around 300kph and other stuff.

I´ve been "grabbed" by the P-39´s, specifically by the P-39Q-1 with it´s 37mm deathclaw!

I have a short list of favorites depending on the server. '39 Q10 being my ride of choice.
I'll saddle up w/ a 109G/AS if the LW are short. But sometimes I just feel the need to move some mud and then it's the IL2. When I'm on a scripted server w/ some area targets you oft see me in an HE111 or TB3.

Offline - I am probably weird but when I fly and am successful at out turning the opponent too easily in a plane I look either for a new opponent or a new plane because I am afraid of developing arcade like bad habits. Flying to a plane's strength is part of the fun and I find myself yanking and banking too much in La7 or Yak3, which ruins me once I get to P-47 or FW190. Lately, I seem to prefer planes with lots of engine management like Hurri or Lagg though as opposed to everything auto, but then again I prefer driving a stick shift.

Online - well when I can't play online lately without game crashing consistently , but I would probably try any German or BnZ Allied plane. I've flown P-39 prepatch and it looks cool but seemed unrealistically resistant to deadly spins.

Conclusion - Why not fly them all? You paid for em all. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I fly the Fw 190D-9 99.9% at the time. It's my baby and the only fighter that I'm willing to fly besides her will be the Ta 152H! But ever once in a while I jump into something else but it always brings me back to my trusty Dora! She is beautiful! The P-51 will be quite interesting though I must admit!

I'll be flying the P-51 full time. If it turns out to be porked. I'll just stay in the F-15/A-10 in Lock-On.

Late 109's prefferably the K-4, but I can fly around in a G6/AS and it don't bother me.

I feel safe in the Dora but sometimes fly the A-9 for the 30mm punch and the ruggedness of the bird.
Still, sooner or later I get carried away and find myself in the woods at low level in the A-9 so I switch back to the Dora that can do something usefull in that sort of situation.
BnZ all the time can get boring.

I like to switch around alot for what ever the mood is. Sometimes I like to speed like a mad man so I take out a FW-190D for a spin. Other times like the last couple weeks I fly a P-11c or a I-153P and pretend I'm flying WWI stuff. I got lots of WWI skins downloaded to my I-153P and the UV2S two seater bi-plane. Its slow but fun to chase them and the WWI paint schemes are cool.

Favorite planes are Bf-109G series, Hurricanes, P-40, P-47, and when they are flyable, Bf-110C, P-51B,C,and D, and the P-38G and H.

I guess I could have said, "I like 'em all!" hehe
