Approximately half of Japanese planes lost during WWII were lost on the ground in raids like this.

Hmm. OK: It's a "Flight Sim" not a "Bomb Sim"? (actually neither, it's a video game).

Cool pics tho, thanks for posting /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Actually,it's a COMBAT flight sim,so parafrags are fair game. In case you guys didn't already know,Oleg has said at least one of the B-25 varients being developed will be flyable...

Well good luck! We've had a flyable IL-2 for years now, but still don't have the DAG-10 grenade launcher, which is essentially a "parabomb" with a very short fuse. I hope we really do get the flyable B-25 along with the mythical Bf-110 /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

it was my understanding that both the b-25H & b-25J were already near compleation & in olegs hands. the **** pits & guns should be roughly the same....so why only 1?

Here's a post by Oleg on the Netwings Dev Forum. The thread is about the Pe-2/3,but read down where he talks about the B-25. Apparently the differences are considerable. Currently,it doesn't look like the 75mm equipped model will be flyable.

In response to message #12

I never told that I'm not interested.... On the time when you was asking me - there were at least two guys that tried to do it....
So, the situation is:

1. There were already 4 guys that asked me to do it and I really was agree.... Then they all was dissapeared.
2. I answer no in case if the guy asked for the model that already in development by other guy. Or we'll have a problem.... Someone did, another one did and what that I should do? Select the best? then the other guy wil be offend on me. I don't like such situation.
3. I asked myself to make Pe-2 cockpit Xanty... But he now have not any time for that....

Rule: Pe-2 should make very experienced modeller. Its very complex cockpit + positions of gunners. Xanty was the guy that for sure was able to make, but the lack of time only stopped him...

We have very good photos only for cockpit of Pe-2 of late war version. There was many versions and all of them had differences in cockpit and internal construction. I repeat, we have reference only for the late version and some reference that indicated changes of gauges in time of the 1941-43 years...
The very first versions was very different than later produced. it had autorecovering device from a dive, 50+ electical motors for control - so just these things show the differences beween 1941 and 1943-44 year production Pe-2s.... and these differences reflecting on the diffeences in cockpit.

We may skip all these diffeneces and make one cockpit for all versions, except visibilty in the nose.... But turrets really was different and they need to be done all... And for them we have too little reference just for one type.
We laso can skip even that thing and make it only by simple blueprints that we have.... Probably nobody even will not say bad about it...

But... As I told, it is still very complex plan to model inside...
Jippo can confirm that it is similar to Ju-88 cockpits modeling....
Ask them him much time he spent for that already....

So... If there will be really very experinced guy that able to make it to the end and we will be able to insert it without corections in bugs of modelling... then I will send him my docs.

And as you all know - we do ourselves right now B-25 of several modifications. But only one probably will be flyable due to reference for the cockpit that we have. Just imagine differences of the nose mounted 75 mm cannon of one version and the basic version.... Its huge differneces in cockpit...

B-25 was most mass sent lend lease bomber... They flew common missions with IL-4, over sea and the ground, used same way as Il-2 some time for low altitude groung atack....

A-20.... Also in works as you all know...

So VVS will have multicrew bombers probably.... And this means balance for interest of Luftwaffe, VVS and even USA side players
Isn't it?

If Oleg needs more refference photos for the B-25 and variants I can likely get ahold of a large number of them. Our campus library is a Library of Congress repository.

The only caveat is that I do not know how to handle the documentation for for profit endeavors. I'd need instructions on that matter.

Also, it is possible to get archival information from the Smithsonian. They almost certainly have ample information on all variants of the B-25.

I have a few images and drawings of the B-25H models, and they are a good deal different than the J's. The 75mm cannon and its manual loading rack were installed into the crawl space to the greenhouse nose used by the bombardier. The cockpit was quite changed, as all the copilots equipment was deleted from the H model. The bombardier/cannoneer had been moved from the greenhouse nose (the new nose replacement housed the 4 .50's and the 75mm cannon barrel) to rear of the cockpit, at the breech of the cannon. He sat on a tray seat that along with the cannon breech tray hinged upwards to allow access to the hatch. All the bombing equipment was moved to the cockpit.

The copilot was primarily there to relieve the pilot when needed, and provide a backup in case the pilot was wounded. His removal reduced the crew by one man, lightened the plane (by around 300 pounds for controls, chair, etc.) for extra pilot armor and arms.

I'd like the H to be flyable, just for the fun of the cannon during ground attack missions (the onle reason I play FB). But as long as I'm getting the B-25, I won't complain much. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

BTW, nice pics SkyChimp. I have a couple pics of a low altitude parafrag bombing run on Formosa, and the the B-25 trailing the camera plane has taken a serious blow from flak. In the next pic it has crashed into the village. The parafrag parachutes are clearly seen in the pics.
