I am playing through my second campaign. I have been told to attack a Russian port. We fly 192km to get there, only to find 19 gunboats and 5 destroyers which throw up an impossible amount of flak. My question is, if I dump my bombs on the nearest thing that looks like a target and ignore the port (and my orders) and then apply this, will I face a court martial and ruin the campaign? BTW, I'm flying a 109 G6 which makes me wonder where the bloody Heinkels are.

erm...

Jink, dodge, strong arm, and steal.

don't fly straight for more than 5 seconds.

I dont mind trying to dodge etc. when it only takes 5 mins. to get to the target, but the distance involved in this mission makes getting shot down a real pain in the ar5e. I've tried it 3 or 4 times, put it on autopilot etc. and half the staffel gets blootered before the first bomb is dropped. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

the good thing: just like in real life you cannot always achieve the mission objectives and you can dump your bombs somewhere. as long as you come back in one piece you'll continue with the campaign. If you have the apply button, that is. no penalties, no Court martial are modelled, at least on the German side. I haven't checked how is it with the red army.

But there's always the chance that you'll have to do it again, if the targets are important.

Heck, I've had a mission where I was told to attack T-34 with a Schwarm of Me109 F-2 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif We just circled above the tanks, sprayed them a bit, downed a couple of MiGs and returned to base. hit apply and go for the next mission

Thank you very much Ankanor, your news is almost as delightful as your avatar. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

or you could just go into the FMB and click on the ships, then click on hte objects menu, and change the skill level to rookie, and raise the number in the ROF box. this slows the rate of fire down.

i have to do the same thing to the multi engine bombers in all the cmpns if fly....therees always some bombers with a skill level above rookie, and this makes their gunners dead eye robots.

when all esle fails, change the parameters of the misn....

Do what you would if you were there http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
I would consider going for the easiest possible target and if i realised it was impossible i would turn and go back looking for a target of opportunity, like armor. Or at least that's how we play in DID (Dead is Dead).

No sear I think PBNA-Boosher anwser "Don't fly straight for more than 5 seconds" is the best one.
That is what I would do, mayby even less than 2 or 3 sec.
