Salute Oleg

Congratulations on the publication of the Beta 1.1 patch.

The overall Flight model has improved in many ways.

The revised Aircraft inertia effects, as well as the introduction of high speed effects on control surfaces brings the Simulation to a new height of realism and immersion.

We can now see why aircraft with lower drag airframes, and control surfaces which were designed to operate at higher speeds became successful and came more to the fore as the war moved on.

The improved performance of the Focke Wulf 190 series is a clear indication that you are on the right path, and that that your revisions are creating an physics enviroment which is as close to the real one as possible.

There are also some excellent graphics additions which add a wonderfully immersive feel to the sim. In particular, the dust clouds from aircraft taking off is a very nice touch... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Of course, there are some issues with particular aircraft, which do not seem correct. And some sound issues may be present.

However, I am confident, and it is clear, that your invitation for players to consider this patch a 'beta', means that you will be open to our comments and make changes where evidence warrants them.

I would suggest that those players who have concerns put them forward in a calm and reasoned manner so they can be addressed.

Once again thankyou for your efforts

Agreed, overall FM appears to be more plausible thus far. Still to find an uber or unter aircraft. Most remaining problems appear to be minor. Of course I haven't experienced any sound problems myself so I can't comment on that.

Overall, congrats on a job well done.

The online lag is much reduced; today I have had my first smooth online game ever for FB and it was so good. And I think the framerate is even better too.

Thank you 1C /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I agree,
only managed to find an hour or two last night to try it out but I enjoyed what I saw, heard and felt. Lots of hours in perspective to master some of the new flight models. And for those who are going to find pbs with certain aircraft I'm sure that they will be further improved in another patch. Experience with 1C shows that they work continually to improve things- providing that they get intelligent feedback.

agree - played online, on my typical server setup - warping was practically non existent - play was smooth and exciting.

Thanks Oleg

Yeah i agree. Congratulations on well done patch!

The only thing i still miss is a good old IL-2 times flight model, when i could not take off in MiG-3 without first properly trimming it! Now i can take off in anything even without flaps, leave alone the trimmers.

But anyways, this patch is a HUGE improvement! And FPS improved dramatically! Thank You Oleg and UBI team!

Absolutely amazing. ONly plane I'm wondering about now is the Brewster Buffalo - but I am thinking Oleg probably has some pretty solid data on this from Finnish sources.

I've done some fairly comprehensive testing of various ac and relative performance seems close to perfect from what I've read.

Hi all,

One great improvement I hadn't seen previously (I don't know if this was already present in previous versions) is the AI pilots making mistakes when dealing with extreme flying and combat situations.

EX:
I was flying in a Dora against a pair of Hurries when one of them decided to drop down to tree top level or below.

I managed to keep pressure on him at very low level (I myself nearly bought it) and he just crashed without a single hit. Obviously he made a fatal mistake (CFIT) in forbiden grounds.

The only thing I have to point is that this kill was not credited as it should. Reason: he crashed due to my actions and historically this type of kills are awarded.

Another subject I would like to talk is about compromises between reality and simulation.

My opinion is that FMs should be as realistic as possible even if extremely difficult for sim pilots to master them.

Everyone still has the option to tone down the FM in the realism options.

Fly safe!
