ok,..I was thinking about transfering to another flotilla, just to check it out, but I was wondering if someone could tell me, What happens to my present crew? Do they come with me or do I leave them behind? I spent alot of time advancing them and giving them awards. Lets say I did transfer and then came back....Would I still have the same experienced crew?
....questions, questions...questions.

-I docked at a different port than my own, one time after a mission. My entire patrol cleared when I left. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif Bad Idea. It's not worth it, and I won't do that again.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I think your crew stays the same.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

When transferring base, you take your boat and all your crew with you, no problem.

Docking anywhere other than your home port is treated as a "stopover", not a full service. But it DOES start a new patrol. So only do that if you really have to, like when you've used all your torpedos and are low on fuel. Advantage: only one day in port (important at some times, like April 40 - you won't want to spend the whole Norwegian campaign in port. Disadvantage: no patrol grid assigned for the new patrol.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

What happens when you switch to a smaller boat, how the crew selection is made?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You will be re-directed to the "barracks" screen, where you need to perform a few sackings. It's up to you whom you sack as long as you achieve the max number of crew in each category (Officer/NCO/Sailor) - see stats bars at top left.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You can't downgrade your U-Boat though. Not that you would want to.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Unless you already have the smallest/oldest boat that is currently available in your Flotilla, you CAN downgrade your boat.

Try it out: start a new career in Lorient, 2nd Flotilla, thus get a IXB or IXC boat depending on time of the war, make three patrols in it over a period of six months (making sure you get at least 2,500 renown), then apply for a transfer to 7th Flotilla (St. Nazaire). As soon as you are in the office in St. Nazaire you can go to the equipment upgrade screen and order a VIIC boat.

Even easier, start a new career with 1st Flotilla in Brest in 1941. You'd normally get a VIIC, but you can go straight to the upgrade screen and order a IIA or IID.

But as demigod quite rightly asked, why would you want to?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I started my career in a IIa, lovely little U-Boat it was.

It was slow, it was only short range. Carried 5 torpedoes, and could stay submerged for a whole 20 minutes!!

Legendary U-Boat it was. LOL<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

actually though, in fairness, the IIa was a good U-boat to learn the ropes in. Believe me. I definately gained a lot from that submersible sardine tin.

I may just have another full career in a IId. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And I am being serious there.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
