I think that decision has been taken a long time ago, and it's too late to lobby for anything else. Well, there is always SH5...
Anyway, I don't care as long as SH4 is at least as good as SH3, and it gives the European players, including myself, a new perspective on things and perhaps a bit more to learn about WWII history in the Pacific theatre.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

NCO Schmitt: "Sir, I would like to apply for a transfer to the Infantry!"

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k203/Bootsmann0815/W1Joininfant.jpg

Kaleun: "Schmitt, are you out of your mind? Where did you get that idea from?"
NCO Schmitt: "Well, Sir, the poster says the Infantry is the Queen of all Armed Forces..."

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k203/Bootsmann0815/W2Koenigin.jpg

Kaleun: "Have you seen the other poster? It says 'As hard as we fight, as hard you should work for victory' - whatever you do, whatever your job!"

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k203/Bootsmann0815/W3Arbeiten.jpg

NCO Schmitt: "Sir, I just thought..."
Kaleun: "I want the whole story, Schmitt! You know you can trust me!"
NCO Schmitt: "Sir, I'm the most experienced NCO in the Kriegsmarine! Been serving more than 20 years, even did two combat patrols in the first war, under Kaleun Lothar von Arnault de la Periere.... Basically, I just want my own boat, but I'm just an NCO and not an Officer. Field Commissions are more common in the Infantry."
Kaleun: "No need to get upset, Schmitt. I know you are a good man. After we return from this patrol, I'll have a word with the Flotilla Leader and I'm sure we can come to some arrangement for you."

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k203/Bootsmann0815/W4NCOpromise.jpg

Three days later in the North-Western corner of BE36...
NCO Schmitt: "Sir, I can't believe what I'm seeing!"

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k203/Bootsmann0815/W5binofree.jpg

Kaleun: "Well, Schmitt, what are you seeing?"
NCO Schmitt: "I'm seeing type IIA boats! One, two, three...a whole wulfpack! Ten in total, and apparently abandoned..."

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k203/Bootsmann0815/W6aimlessbino.jpg

Kaleun: "Incredible! Ten abandoned IIA, drifting aimlessly in the water! We've got to man these boats and bring them home! Each Officer will take one, and I need six NCOs to volunteer as skippers! Each of you can take a further three crew members to man your boats!"

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k203/Bootsmann0815/W7mapchaos.jpg

Kaleun: "Schmitt, as you can see I tend to keep my promises! There is your boat!"

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k203/Bootsmann0815/W8theresyourboat.jpg

NCO Schmitt: "Thank you, Sir! I feel very honoured! - Come on, you three, let's jump across right now!"

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k203/Bootsmann0815/W9Thanksboat.jpg

Kaleun: "Right, then, all the boats are manned and have started engines! Wulfpack SURPRISE reports for duty!"

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k203/Bootsmann0815/W10WPreport.jpg

Kaleun: "The formation is ready! 'Kaleun' Schmitt, lead on if you please!"

'Kaleun' Schmitt: "Yes, Sir! All boats - All ahead full!"

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k203/Bootsmann0815/W11Formationtotal.jpg

UBWA 1.92. Happened during routine career patrol, not user-created mission. The ten abandoned IIA where just sitting there, not doing anything. Unfortunately, no enemy units were nearby.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I'm just hoping we'll be able to play Silent Hunter III with the Silent Hunter IV engine/game core. So that I can play as an American sub in the Pacific, or load up SuperMod 4 and play as a German u-boot in the Atlantic.

SH3 can already do that in a fashion, we could setup a full campaign system in the Pacific given the right ship models, so I should be able to have the same dynamic campaign I have in SH3 right now, but using the SH4 improvements. At least I hope so. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I think that just might be possible for modders to accomplish - but it would be a hell of a lot of work and <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">Ubi[/b] might throw a wobbly because people who own sh4 could basically get a mod which which makes the game in to SH3.5
(so downloading the mod wouldnt be too far off downloading a torrent of SH3 if you get my drift.)<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

A 'must have' feature
Fully operational AI subs are as important as AI ships and planes -They were there-. Please dont repeat SH3's biggest Short coming in SHIV.
