Hello,

Could anyone help me with some information?

There was a modification to the upper nose armament of the bf 110g-4 in wich the 2 mk108 (130/135r) 30mm cannons were swapped by another 2 mg 151 20mm cannons.

does anyone know the ammo load for the mg 151s?

Remember, i am talking about the upper nose armament, the bf 110 has 2 lower mg 151 with 300/350r and can carry another two in a ventral tray with 200rpg. this info is readly availabe.

Hi,

where did you find the info that this modification existed? Was it a Rüstsatz or something unofficial? I can't find it in the Bf 110 documentation, it's not among the Rüstsätze 1 to 8.

Also the 110 manual lists the ammo supply for the standard 20 mm gun outfit to be 350 / 400, but it's not always 100% accurate.

Thanks for replying,

yes, this isn´t a official factory kit but a modification done a depot level.

I have read about this mod in various books and magazines (Air international, IAPR, aero detail, etc...) but without reference to the actual ammo load.

this picture (monogram close-up 18) shows clearly the slimmer mg 151 barrels with flash hiders. Apparently some pilots prefer this weapon because of the faster rate of fire. Also, the muzzle flash of the mk 108 was very severe impairing the night vision.

thanks again

No, thank you for asking this interesting question and sharing the information you had. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif It helped me to find some more pictures of this modification, but sadly nothing to answer your question. It appears that this conversion was used by ZG 76, so maybe the unit records contain more details. I don't have them.

It's a rare version Bf 110 G-4c/R4 (with c version of FuG220 SN-2 radar). As for the ammo loadout - sorry, I can't find anything. Very interesting and challenging question.
